Cavatore, a charming Texas Italian restaurant located on Ella Blvd in the Greater Heights of Houston, is a true hidden gem that effortlessly blends comfort and culinary excellence. Step into this transformed barn, adorned with red and white checkered tablecloths, and prepare yourself for a delightful dining experience!
As the weekend approaches, the air is filled with enchanting live piano music, creating the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening. You can't help but be captivated by the soothing melodies that whisk you away to a world of gastronomic delight.
One of the highlights at Cavatore is their incredible tableside Caesar salad experience. Prepared with a tantalizing Tabasco kick, the dressing adds a fiery twist to this classic dish. Alas, despite my best efforts, my husband remains unconvinced about the anchovy addition, but don't worry; there's plenty more to savor!
Before diving into the delectable main courses, don't miss out on the irresistible bread basket. Served warm, the sliced baguette generously buttered with garlic is an indulgent treat that sets the stage for the culinary journey to come.
Cavatore boasts a respectable selection of wines, even for a family-oriented restaurant. So, raise a glass to the perfect pairing for your Italian feast and toast to a memorable evening filled with laughter, good company, and exquisite flavors.
When it comes to pasta, Cavatore truly shines. For you, the Cabanora pasta steals the show, tickling your taste buds with its tantalizing blend of flavors. Meanwhile, my husband's heart belongs to the rich and comforting lasagna, which never fails to impress.
But fear not, for Cavatore caters to all tastes. When you're craving something a little lighter, the Pollo Al Rosmarino beckons. Succulent and fragrant, this dish offers a refreshing break from the heartier pasta options while still delivering on flavor.
Although you bid farewell to your favorite waitress as she embarks on her next career chapter, the bar at Cavatore has become our new refuge. Take a seat, sip on your favorite libation, and let the friendly bartenders regale you with stories and recommendations, adding a touch of camaraderie to your dining experience.
Cavatore, with its rustic charm, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality, has quickly become our go-to spot for a taste of Italy in Texas. Whether you're seeking a cozy dinner for two or a gathering with loved ones, this barn-turned-restaurant promises an unforgettable journey through Italian flavors and heartfelt memories. So, gather your appetite, venture to Cavatore, and prepare to be transported to a gastronomic haven that will leave you longing for...
Read moreHouston, Texas is best known for its Tex Mex and burgers and most people don’t associate the area with Italian food. But Houston, in fact, has a very large variety of restaurants and that includes more popular options such as Italian. One of the better options for Italian is Cavatore Italian Restaurant.
Cavatore Italian Restaurant is different from the usual Italian. The atmosphere is certainly one of the restaurant’s strongest suits, as it was constructed from what used to be a barn. This is not what you expect when you go for Italian food and even though it might sound odd at first, one look inside will erase your doubts and win you over. The rustic feel and the art, historic photos, and other items on the walls make for a charming setting.
With the food, Cavatore Italian Restaurant aims to please and guests will like what they taste. I always appreciate when a restaurant serves more unusual and unique options and Cavatore has several, like pizza topped with meat wheels made from pepperoni, salami, and prosciutto with artichoke hearts and Caesar salad made with anchovies. The pizza was my favorite, both for its taste and uniqueness, since it was unlike most anything I had tried in the past. If you’re not feeling so adventurous, that is fine- Cavatore serves more traditional food options such as spaghetti and meatballs or margherita pizza.
Service is good at Cavatore Italian Restaurant. A long- tenured employee mixes up the salads in open view of guests and this, again, is an added plus and quite different from what I expected. For entertainment, they have live piano music to make the evening even more memorable and if you have a large, private group, they have rooms specifically for that purpose. There is also a full bar ready to mix up any drink you like, along with beer or wine. And if the weather permits, they have an outdoor patio.
Italian food is one of my favorites, but not all Italian is created equally and some restaurants that call themselves Italian are really just Americanized attempts and far from authentic. Cavatore Italian Restaurant certainly knows a thing or two about Italian food and other foods, too. The atmosphere, live music, and free parking add to the pleasure and make Cavatore an Italian eatery worth...
Read moreFood & service from waiter was good, however the evening ended on very poor note due to extremely poor hospitality from manager on duty Sat night, 1/29/22. My group had a 7pm reservation for (4) and we were seated at 7:15. After casual dinner with cocktails, wine, food, and dessert, we were finishing our coffee/after dinner drinks and talking casually when the manager approached our table and told us “we closed at 9:00 so you will have to wrap it up quickly and leave.”….. it was 9:45 at this time and we had already just paid our bill and literally were just finishing cup of coffee, about to leave! This same manager passed along the same message to the few tables around us and all the guests were stunned with this rude approach and feeling we were being swept out of room.
I’ve worked in the restaurant business and still work in hospitality industry for years, and never have I been in a restaurant still dining at reasonable pace and paying the restaurant when asked to leave like this. Our presence was NOT holding up the kitchen, waitstaff, or management staff from closing up their duties for the night. Plus, after spending a good amount of money in their establishment, I expected the courtesy of finishing the experience casually. My feelings were not isolated as we talked with others who were also leaving hurriedly and remarked how rude we were treated.
So, to the manager who delivered this message…..I hope it was worth you getting home 5 minutes earlier but you just lost at least 4 customers who won’t be returning. We will happily spend our money and time in another restaurant who welcomes our patronage…..and not just until 9:45 pm on a Sat when you lose patience and want to go home. It wasn’t like we had been loitering in your dining room & it was 11:00 pm or anything like that! ...
