Okay, I know what you're thinking - small shop, easy to miss, holds the product you're looking for, that's it? No!!! I thought the same, but my visit totally exceeded my expectations.

I like many others new to woodworking/finishing come into this place looking for General Finishes products, and I expected to pick a stain/topcoat and maybe chat abit about my project and go on my way - but thanks to Judy I got so much more.

I was super overwhelmed by my project, but Judy carefully and patiently listened to my rambling, offering reassurance and corrections when necessary. She pointed me in more efficient alternatives and (as another reviewer stated) DOWNsold me. I was worried about a pint of stain being enough, but I let her know the size of my desk top and she wouldn't hear more of me trying for more product. She also MIXED MY STAIN! She again listened while I gave a muddled description of my hopes and dreams, and mixed me a color as close as can be to the picture in my head. It was all a long process but we chatted about quite a few things to pass the time. No cold corporate vibes here at all.

Aside from the custom stain, she also gave me other supplies I'd need for the application and finishing. I need to go back soon, as I'm looking to get a few more things - and even if they don't have what I'm looking for I will be content with the fact it won't be a wasted trip.

Thank you so much, Judy! I appreciate all your help. And whoever is reading this researching a DIY computer desk project - GO HERE FIRST. I wish I'd known about them before I went off researching on my own; the owners would have definitely taught me everything I painstakingly cobbled together and would've most likely saved me money. This is a company that I've worked for for over 20 years and now just off and on but it's a wonderful company to work for and the quality and craftsmanship is phenomenal. Most of the products that were put out or delivered by the people that built and finish them themselves. This is a company that believes if you have the time to come back and do it twice you had the time to do it right the first time.
