Halal Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Houston

Went there yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised by the fried chicken! My husband had to point out to me that i could not stop talking about it even when we got home and it was a 1.5 hr drive to Walker county! We moved from SoCal and there was one similar establishment there which sold halal 'KFC-like' fried chicken in Anaheim but this one definitely takes the cake with spices and batter and it's texture hauntingly close to KFC. I was looking forward to try their mashed potatoes but it wasn't available ( i am DYIIING to know if theirs taste like the KFC gravy back home or not so i will for sure insya Allah come back for this😋😋😋) so i had the jalapeno poppers on the side instead. It's been 5 years since I've had chicken this good and my family was in the catering business back home so we loooove good food!! The oil used to fry the chicken wasn't re-used or old oil either! They had different sauces to try from and the mango habanero was the one which was ok for me to dip the chicken in (The owner generously gave me all the sauces they had to try subhanallah ..may he be rewarded for his generosity to us, as, he even gave us an extra bun because his staff had forgotten about it ). I do wish they had chilli sauces like the ones in KFC in Singapore or Malaysia but i know recipes can be a challenge to re-create if you have never tried them. Meanwhile, my husband had the Philly cheesesteak and the hoagie was sliced all the way through which made it a messy for him to eat it. I would give it 5 stars if they had goood chilli sauce for the chicken, ice for the drinks (drinks come in a can from the chiller) or some hot drinks like tea or coffee and maybe even MILO for the cold winters(Understandably, i am certain they have a reason for not having so and or maybe other visions for their establishment). They had discontinued the shaved ice which was another thing we drove from Walker for too 💔💔💔😫 In all, Halal fried chicken lived up to it's name and if you're coming for the chicken you won't be disappointed! I am looking forward to them opening a branch closer to Walker so we don't have to travel all the way for this. Definitely recommending this place to all in my network. Thank you for your service to the community. My pictures and videos may not do it justice on this platform so i will not post them all here, you guys just HAVE to go and try it out for yourselves.

Absolutely amazing food and experience. It is freshly made so you do have to wait, but it is so worth it. The chicken is flavorful in season to the bone and I do mean even the bone marrow itself has flavor and aromatics. This was quickly a decision to make a weekly staple and we haven't looked back since if you enjoy a great flavor fresh hot great service come here you won't regret it and you will also make this a weekly staple if not a daily staple.

Update 3/28/25. Well. Since my initial review we have come to the restaurant for additional times each to get something different but unfortunately nothing is as appetizing as what we had before so we decided to just allow this restaurant to feed us when we want a Gyro or some fried chicken and today we went to get three meals and unfortunately, I guess they decided to change the menu because now the wrap is like a wheat crusted type of bread instead of what they had before and so it was not as appeasing or good at all, we were not happy and for we are just gonna have to find somewhere else to go now for this type of mail and unfortunately, it's like when you like something that you try to go back for it. Why do they change things or get a different cook or I'm not sure what's happening but the mail just wasn't the same at all. It was just Supportso I wanna hit an upload of some photos and videos to show and the fries were extremely cold and like hard, so yeah unfortunately we have to go somewhere else for gyro and I will start looking tomorrow. We took to gyro and put them in a Garlic Naan wrap that I had at home. So it made it so much better using softer wrap. 🤦🏽‍♀️Sorry to disappoint the previous readers.

Update: June/2025: not sure what happened but we went ahead and ordered the fried chicken since my daughter loves it here and I'm so happy to say that it's exactly what we thought it was gonna be which is amazing maybe before they just had a bad cook I'm not sure, but the chicken is always always so so fire I hope the girls get better. I haven't tried them since the last time but I know the fried chicken is fire and this is still our definite spot to go to for their fried...

So I'm not sure what happened with my Google Map search. I typed in Halal and meant to finish typing Guys and it took me to Halal Fried Chicken instead. Boy was I surprised by what came up in the pictures. I can't resist fried chicken and said sure why not.

I stopped by here today after taking a 2 hour test down the road. I arrived before noon and was welcomed by the two guys behind the counter. The only thing I knew I wanted was fried chicken. Being that it was just mez the smallest size they had was the 6 piece. I figured I can take the rest home. Let's not forget I added fries. The guy informed me it would take anywhere from 15 - 20 minutes. I'm already liking this, hot and crispy chicken 🍗.

15 minutes later, he rings the bell at the front and says your order is ready. I walked back to my seat with 6 pieces of fried chicken and a side of salted crispy French fries. The smell of the chicken was so aromatic. The taste is what did it for me. There were so many different types of seasoning packed into that chicken with such a nice kick. It wasn't just the outside batter, but the chicken itself was tender, juicy and succulent. The meat came off the bone easily. The chicken gave off plenty of steam, I felt like I was in a sauna. The fries were nicely fried and salted.

I was not able to finish this entire meal, but I can't wait to devour the rest later. It was such a filling and delicious meal I am struggling to stay awake. What a fantastic place. The guy behind the counter was super nice. The one that made the chicken is so amazing. I hope he knows it.
