Cavender's Boot City — Local services in Houston

Not so much a review of this particular store location, but Cavenders online shopping.

BLATANT BAIT & SWITCH

We bought jeans from them online during a buy 2 get 1 free sale & it was not honored. The buy 2 get 1 free was the only reason we were buying from Cavenders & not from their competitors or directly from Wrangler.

When we put 3 pairs of jeans(same exact style & size) into the cart it was charging for a 3 pairs & not giving a pair free as advertised, so we changed it to 2 pair & checked out thinking that the 3 pair would just be added.

Called to speak to them as when the order arrived it only had 2 pairs. They said that is because they couldn't put a free item into the cart that it would deduct at checkout. After I explained to her that's not what it was doing I was put on hold for her to come back & say the reason it wasn't honoring the buy 2 get 1 free is that they were also running a 20% off & that is what was automatically being applied to the order which is why the buy 2 get 1 wasn't getting triggered at checkout.

She then said that we could get the 3rd pair but would have to pay $16.99 for shipping.

She had no response to me calling them out on the BAIT AND SWITCH tactics that they were implementing and just asked if I wanted the 3rd...

It was my first time at a Cavenders for my first pair of boots. After a prolonged amount of time trying different boots on, and receiving some assistance, I finally found a boot that fit me PERFECTLY. We searched for the second half of the pair for the better part of an hour, only to have the staff tell us that they don’t have it.

We were told that another customer may have purchased the one individual boot separately. We had our time wasted by the stores improper inventory system (If you’re willing to sell boots individually, then have all the boots scanned into the system-not just one count of boots per pair).

I had to settle on a similar pair that were closely similar to the original one that I tried.

One star for the assistance we received at the beginning. One star for the obviously good quality product. The rest were lost to time wasted, lack of help in resolving the missing boot, and overall dissatisfaction with how disorganized the boots are stored and displayed.

Worth noting that a 10% discount was provided for the aforementioned reasons for dissatisfaction. I appreciate the store’s management for providing us...

Well, like I always say if you can provide a solution to any problem the customer has then you created a lifelong relationship. Well I feel the same about Cavenders. I went here over 20 years ago and got my self a 4x Resistol hat. The Hat Shapper was so friendly and nice I never forgot my experience. He really helped pick a decent hat. Thus why I went back and it was the same experience. I needed a hat and the gentleman behind the counter took his time with me and helped me pick a good Silver Belly Resistor and Stetson straw hat. I absolutely love them they fit great and he shaped them correctly to my head and style. While there we met the VP of the rodeo's Wine and Beverage committee, his wife as well as another committee member and all where very nice. The hat shaper even though he had been at work since 5 am waited on us and made sure we were happy with the service and that's why I like Cavenders.
