I have been struggling with Ervin since I was a child but now at 21 years old I decided I had enough! Ervin is responsible for most of my hair traumas. My 2 sisters and I have always left his salon in tears. I am the youngest out of all my sisters. They moved on to different stylists but unfortunately I am still in the predicament where my mother pays for my hair and she acts like she doesn’t know anyone but Ervin to do hair. So unfortunately I am forced to deal with Ervin. He always has an attitude and never respects the style you request. He is scissor happy and will cut your hair too much! Ever since I was a little girl I asked him for curls and he would argue with me and slap a perm on my hair. I was young so I did not know how to speak up for myself yet. Finally in college I did my research and learned I wanted a curly perm. I finally requested a curly perm and Ervin argued with my mother and I. Due to the arguing I had to rush and go to another stylist who put the perm in my hair and it fell out. Out of desperation I went back to Ervin and he finally did the curly perm but why did we have to go through all of that. Fast forward to my second retouch in March and he did my curly perm horribly! By the time I got home my hair was puffy and the curls were frizzy and nonexistent. I touched my scalp and could still feel my natural texture from the new growth that I thought was permed. My mother contacted him and he was rude on the phone. He was bashing my character and saying I don’t moisturize my hair and other things. My mom thought if he saw my hair in person he would better understand. Nope! He was extremely rude and critical. Then he just sprayed water and put moisturizer on my hair. Completely disregarded that I told him the moisturizer dries up within 15 minutes and my hair looks frizzy. Then he started saying I need to chop all of my hair off and grabbed the scissors and started cutting my hair. I had to jerk my body to get him to stop cutting. He did not perm my hair correctly or form the curls right but that did not mean my healthy hair needed to he chopped off. Also there’s a chunk of hair missing in the bottom corner of my hair after he retouched it. I mentioned that to him and he completely disregarded that. He tried to blame me coming to his salon with dry hair but I only didn’t moisturize my hair the day I knew I was coming in for a retouch. Also he kept increasing the price every single time I came for a shampoo or retouch with no explanation! He is also very rude and acts like he cannot hear what I say and makes my mother repeat everything I said to him. But guess what I know he will understand what I say now after he reads this review! I will never step foot in his salon again. He is evil and I think he has a deep rooted problem against my sisters and I. He finds joy in making us leave the salon in tears and cutting our hair. I am putting a stop to this madness now at...
Read moreI KNOW I SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF MYSELF BECAUSE IT HAPPENED SOME YEARS AGO, BUT I WAS SPEAKING WITH SOMEONE, A FRIEND OF MINE, AND SHE MENTIONED...GUESS WHO I RAN INTO RECENTLY THAT WE BOTH HAVENT SEEN IN A WHILE? SHE MENTIONED EARVIN!!! WE BOTH HAD A HEARTY LAUGH BECAUSE SHE KNEW MY ORDEAL AND HOW I FELT ABOUT HIM AFTER MY LAST ENCOUNTER. EARVIN'S SHOP WAS IN WALKNG DISTANCE FROM WHERE I STAYED AT THE TIME AND ALL I EVER USED HIM FOR WAS TO CLIP MY ENDS. I NEVER, TO THIS DAY DO MUCH MORE AT THE HAIRDRESSERS UNLESS OCCASIONALLY TREAT MYSELF TO A SHAMPOO AND SET. WELL ONE DAY I WAS REALLY FEELING MYSELF AND WANTED TO GO ALL OUT AND GET A SHAMPOO AND SET AND GUESS WHAT??? I WANTED TO COLOR MY HAIR. I'VE ALWAYS WORE MY HAIR NATURAL AND WHEN IT GREYED, I TOOK PRIDE IN THAT. I GREYED EARLY FROM SAY ABOUT 33YRS OLD AND AT THIS PARTICULAR TIME WAS SAY ABOUT IN MY EARLY 50'S. IT WAS A SPECIAL REQUEST BECAUSE I WANTED TO SEE WHAT I WOULD LOOK LIKE WITHOUT ANY GREY AT ALL BECAUSE I HADN'T SEEN MYSELF WITHOUT GREY IN SO LONG. I WAS TOLD BY FRIENDS THAT I COULD GET THIS THING CALLED 'A RINSE' THAT WOULD TEMPORARILY COLOR MY HAIR AND IT WOULD RINSE OUT. IT WASN'T PERMANENT. SO I WAS EXCITED TO TRY IT KNOWING IT WASN'T GOING TO LAST BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE MY GREY AND LOVED HOW LIFE WAS CHANGING ME, NATURALLY!
SO I GO TO HIM HAPPY AS A LARK, EXCITED, THE WHOLE NINE YARDS. I EXPRESSED IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS WHAT I WANTED AND HE KNEW HOW I ADORED MY NATURAL HAIR AND EVERYONE THAT KNOWS ME KNOW. SO WHY IN A FEW WASHES MY HAIR WAS NOT CHANGING BACK AND I GOT ALARMED. SO I CALLED HIM AND WHY DID I HEAR HIM SAY NONCHALANTLY THAT HE PUT PERMANENT DYE IN MY HAIR. IT HAS BEEN SOME YEARS NOW SO I CANT REALLY REMEMBER VERBATIM HOW IT PLAYED OUT. (I'M 72 NOW) BUT I WAS SO HURT, I MEAN HURT... TO THE POINT I WAS IN TEARS! WHY WOULD SOMEONE DO THAT??? AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, IT SEEMED TO ME THAT HE ACTUALLY GOT PLEASURE OUT OF MY DISAPPOINTMENT AND HURT. BUT I SECOND GUESSED MYSELF AND SAID, NO HE COULDN'T OF DONE THAT ON PURPOSE, MAYBE IT WAS AN HONEST MISTAKE. BUT I LEFT IT ALONE AND VOWED TO NEVER USE HIS SERVICES AGAIN AND SPREAD THE WORD TO ANYONE WHO ASKED TO "BEWARE OF HIM" AND SHARE MY EXPERIENCE. WORD OF MOUTH IS A GREAT TOOL IN ADVERTISING. SO THIS IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST TIME I DID A REVIEW AND THAT'S BECAUSE OF MY CONVERSATION WITH MY FRIEND. SHE REMEMBERS HOW UPSET I WAS AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT IT AND HIM AND LAUGH NOW AT HIS SHENANIGANS. HE IS A CHARACTER TO SAY THE LEAST. I DON'T KNOW HOW HE KEEPS CUSTOMERS WITH HIS DO AS I PLEASE ATTITUDE BECAUSE WITH SUCH AN ATTITUDE, IF YOUR'E GOING TO DO WHAT YOU WANT AND NOT WHAT YOUR CUSTOMER WANTS THEN IT SHOULD BE FREE. PAY FOR IT! I GUESS HE MUST BE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT BECAUSE HE'S STILL IN BUSINESS AND THAT'S JUST DANDY. BUT BECAUSE OF MY EXPERIENCE, HE DOESN'T...
Read moreSpoke to the owner a couple of weeks before going and he was knowledgeable with over 15 yrs experience! Once I arrived, received color and silk press which was just a flat iron straightening. My hair was very soft but not as straight as I preferred..asked for a little curl but it ended up being too fluffy..left shop, came back bc my hair looked a mess once I got to my car..he straightened it again in which I appreciated but I had to suggest he use Marcelle irons to get my hair straighter, which he did but overall, it wasn't to my satisfaction..the people were really nice, comfortable atmosphere but not up to par on hair styling, just my opinion on the...
