We chose CVC at the recommendation of our venue. Their food really is the best and can’t even be compared to others in the area - it tastes like real, home made food and not mass produced catering food. With that being said, the professionalism aspect could be improved tremendously. Long story short, there was a miscommunication between myself and CVC (due in part to the fact they have several people communicating with you at different times) where both parties were on different pages for what the tasting was for when we came in. I got busy with work and forgot to send over my selections to taste - completely my fault. And when we showed up we had 4 people when they expected two. However, no one called or emailed me to follow up on the menu or the number of guests, so by the time I got to email them Sunday it was too late. All that is fine - mistakes happen. What is not fine is being rude and argumentative when something goes wrong and that is exactly what Van did. I have never met him before, and the minute he realized things were not correct he was very rude, not helpful, argumentative and kept interrupting me and my parents telling us we were wrong. A very arrogant demeanor. He also made several snide remarks about us wanting to get the menu done in March for an October wedding, which I find extremely rude because I work full time and my fiancé is a police officer, our schedules are filled and he only has a few days off a month that he doesn’t have training or college classes - so to be rude about us trying to get things done on THEIR timeline for OUR wedding just rubbed me the wrong way.. Thank god for Victoria and Rachel who work there, if it were not for them we would’ve eaten the cost of the deposit and booked elsewhere. Both of them were very kind and understanding and took the time to walk through the proper processes and helped us decide what things to taste next, instead of being demeaning and disrespectful to a BRIDE on what’s supposed to be a very happy time. I found that Van did a poor job of representing their business and the execution of brand quality was upsetting - and not at all fair to how wonderful everyone else at CVC and their food really is. This is all a preemptive review, I would hope this altercation doesn’t handicap their service on our actually wedding day, so I’ll have to write a follow up. As of now I would absolutely suggest working with them! Just run if you see a middle aged guy at their...
Read moreI recently had a wedding catered from City View and overall, everything was great. I know some other reviewers mentioned they had a hard time with communication but this was not something we experienced. Emails were answered in a timely manner, usually 1-2 days at most. The tastings were fantastic. Everything was explained thoroughly to us up front and we had no surprises in terms of price or anything else. We were able to have two tastings to ensure our final menu was exactly how we wanted it.
We opted for the family style service which is a semi-plated service, where guests pass around the sides themselves. Meats were served butler style. The sides came out slightly early which led to them being slightly cold by the time the meats came out. This was not a big deal since they were still delicious!
The only other concern we had was in regard to special meals. We had several vegetarians attend and arranged to have special meals for those persons ahead of time. I provided city view with their name and table numbers. However, I was told after the fact that all but one of our vegetarians received their special meals. I was sad to hear that the vegetarians were not able to eat since we had arranged special meals. The one vegetarian who did receive her meal was sitting next to me and I told her to ask after she did not receive it. I take partial responsibility, as I should have told each vegetarian to request their food but as a bride, I was a little busy! This process should probably be worked out a little better by City View.
All in all though I would use City View again and recommend them to...
Read moreEverything up until the wedding day was great. Tastings and communication were very good. Rachel and Van were great. On the wedding day, staffing was extremely disorganized, there wasn’t many of the mini pastries and shot glass desserts passed around, food was not hot, chicken was dry(really good in the tastings), pre set salads looked nothing like the tower shown in the tastings. Nothing tasted like it had in the tastings. We hired a bartender and servers and the bartender was also acting as a server which caused delays and no service at the bar for periods of time. I was asked by guests if the bar was self service and at times my own parents were serving drinks. The disorganization caused our champagne toast to be messed up- glasses weren’t set out even after offering our own glasses hours before. Guests sat down to a table with no wine or champagne. The bartender acting as a server tried his hardest but it was clear he couldn’t do both roles/needed another server. The napkins I picked up prior to my wedding were very stained which caused me to do laundry the day before which is already a stressful time. I had the most confidence in city view (out of all other vendors I used) for the day of my wedding because they had been amazing up until then but it turned out to be the biggest let down of the day. Not sure if it was just an off day for them but disappointing none the less after all the money you pay. No one checked in with us after to inquire how...
