I have NEVER been the type to take time out of my day to write reviews until today. Like a lot of the ladies who gave reviews, I also purchased a Groupon for a "Microderm and Luxury Facial." Fast forward to Nov. 27th, I came in for my appointment and filled out a couple forms before my consultation. On one of the forms, it explicitly asked for me to sign, acknowledging that I was told before coming in that 48 hours (I don't remember exactly) prior to my appointment, I wasn't supposed to use facial products that contained tretinoin, clindamycin, salicylic acid, etc., because if I did, then I wouldn't be able to do the microderm... which was what I came for. I WAS NOT TOLD ANY OF THIS, and I have both tretinoin and clindamycin products prescribed to me by my dermatologist to take every day!! I have a St. Ives cleanser that I use every other day that contains salicylic acid as well. I went up to the receptionist (Veronica) and let her know about this, in which case she told me to sign anyway and they'll "recommend another facial, or figure it out." RED FLAG #1. I go into the consultation room and am met by an esthetician who proceeds to go over my skin and, like many others, tells me that I am not a good fit for the Groupon I purchased. She offered a custom facial for $99 instead, and when I asked if I could return the Groupon I purchased, or apply the credit to this facial, she promptly left the room and brought in another esthetician to try and sell me on their services. They dodged this question like CRAZY and kept tag-teaming me. The best response of all was "We already redeemed this to your account, so once your skin clears up, you can come back to redeem it since it never expires!" They FALSELY REDEEMED MY GROUPON even though I didn't use it yet, and ultimately I could not get a refund because the Groupon was already redeemed in their system. RED FLAG #2. I decide to do the $99 facial anyway because I had never gotten a facial before, and I got Jasmine as my esthetician, who was great. She was incredible and walked me through the entire process, and answered any questions that I had. After my facial, I walked out and of course I was stopped at the counter, where a display of facial products were laid out so I could make a purchase. I asked about post-facial skin care instructions and were told, "you can use your prescribed meds tonight since we didn't do much with your facial and it was really gentle, but that St. Ives cleanser has got to go... here's a $36 cleanser instead!" Super pushy sales tactics... but either way, I bought the cleanser because I liked it. I DID NOT LISTEN TO THEM and I DID NOT use ANY of my products for the next 4 days. I just washed my face with water, and slowly introduced the cleanser I bought from them on the 5th day. Bad decision. I broke out upon 2 uses and had to stop using the cleanser. After I stopped using the cleanser, my face cleared up. I called on Monday, Dec. 16th to ask if I could refund the cleanser, and was immediately told by Veronica that I could not because it was "against FDA rules." Jasmine comes on the phone and asks me if I used any products in conjunction with it, because it could've caused the breakout.... WHEN SHE EXPLICITLY TOLD ME THAT I COULD USE ALL MY PRODUCTS THE SAME NIGHT AFTER GETTING MY FACIAL DONE. What?!?! Furthermore, she recommended me to come in for ANOTHER. FACIAL. to treat this. Still trying to sell an upset customer on more services. Unacceptable. RED FLAG #3.
I called today and spoke with Veronica, who starts to blame me, saying that I "refused to stop using my St. Ives cleanser and any post facial skin care instructions provided." What??! All I refused was purchasing more than 1 product that was pushed in my face. She offered store credit LMAOOO. RED FLAG #4.
I had to dispute my purchase directly with Groupon, and luckily I got a refund. It even states in the description that "non-candidates and other refund requests will be honored before service provided," so Le Lux lied to me about not being able to refund me. NEVER coming...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAnyone considering lash extensions or having eyebrows done, should definitely go to Le Lux Beautique! Take it from someone who wasn't sure or was too cautious to try anything ... it's definitely worth doing as it will change your face in a great way. Due to an issue, my eyebrows had pretty much fallen out and I used Anastasia powder to "put on my eyebrows" every single day. And each morning, I would mumble how much I hated having to repeat the process. Heaven forbid I was in a rush to go somewhere and left home without my "eyebrows" ... I then started carrying spare supplies to avoid embarrassing moments out in public.
Initially, I went to Le Lux last week after noticing a Groupon for a special on a microdermabrasion/facial (which was, by the way, fantastic!) and initially met with Grace. I've been to several spas in town, but I must admit that Grace took time to really get to know my skin care needs, answered my numerous questions on different services offered, etc. She is experienced, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful...she truly cares about what she does!
I had noticed a brochure on the eyelashes and thought that would be a "someday" kind of thing for me. Well, after the initial consultation, I was considering the lashes and the eyebrow micro blading/semi-permanent pigment procedures. After my wonderful facial, which I didn't want to get up from the table when it was over, I met with Grace and elected to schedule an appointment for my eyebrows to be done.
A couple of days later and a bit nervous, I went in and met with Yina. By that time, Grace asked if I wanted to get the lashes done too and I figured, why not? Yina was so patient and understanding of my needs and concerns. There is always a bit of fear when doing something on your face, but especially if it will remain on your face for a bit of time. I've seen some nightmare eyebrow tattoos on women and knew that's what I didn't want for myself. Much better to forget my "eyebrows" at home than to remain at home after a botched job.
Yina explained everything that would take place, step-by-step and even had Grace come in during the eyebrow design phase. Once I was sure the design was what I wanted, Yina proceeded with the lashes since numbing cream is applied and needs to get working before the eyebrow portion can be worked on. It wasn't painful or bothersome to have the lashes applied. I got a sneak peak and couldn't believe my eyes! Ladies, they make a HUGE difference to your eyes... in my case, I felt the lashes brought me back from the dead. I went with the classic lashes...a great choice for a first timer.
The eyebrow phase may be uncomfortable for a little bit for some, but I have a higher threshold of pain. You feel a bit of pressure when the pigment is being placed, but nothing to run away from screaming. Besides, it was well worth a bit of discomfort for a few minutes. When I looked in the mirror and saw my new eyebrows, I was truly amazed. They looked freaking fantastic!!! Remember, for a woman who has had to powder in her eyebrows for the last 9 years (yes, I realize I am truly late joining this party) and fearing sweat or water would wash them away when out in public, this was a major and welcomed transformation!
It's been almost a week now and I wake up looking like a new person. I see someone who looks alive and refreshed. The after care is easy, and all is well. Recommendation, be sure to wash your hair the morning of or the night before you have your eyebrows and/or lashes done as one must allow time for the eyelashes to adhere properly and time for the eyebrow area to heal properly.
So grateful to have found Le Lux Beautique! My only regret is not having found them much sooner! Thank you, Grace! Thank you, Yina! Thank you to all the wonderful ladies there at Le Lux! I'll be seeing you all again soon, and will drag in my sister for some much needed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have held my tongue long enough. And now I am going to tell the world what I think about this CRAPPY spa. I purchased a Groupon about 9 months ago for a (3) hair blow-out package. On visit one, I waited for over 90 minutes. At that point, my hairdresser came over to me and said that there were still TWO people ahead of me. She saw me sitting there the whole time and never said a word, despite being only twenty feet away and in her direct line of sight. I was furious. I had a special evening planned and was counting on Le Luxe to come through for me with a great blow out. I almost wrote a Yelp review then, but I waited. I thought.....some businesses just have bad days and things go wrong. So I said nothing and gave this business the benefit of the doubt. About 6 weeks later, I tried again. I waited 20+ minutes beyond my appointment time, and finally got my blow out. And it was...MEH. I could have done far better on my own. It was a complete waste of my time and money. So that left two more blowouts that I was told I could use any time.
One crappy blow out down, two crappy blow outs to go.
This morning, I called the salon to see if they had any appointment times available for a Groupon facial I wanted to purchase. They said yes, and that I should purchase it directly from them and not Groupon. I had no problem with that, but I bet Groupon wouldn't be so happy about that. In any event, I also scheduled a blow out for after my facial. Again, I had a special event to go to this evening and I thought that would be great to get my face and hair done at the same time. So I went in and waited patiently. There were ZERO customers in the salon, and a few worker bees and I STILL waited nearly a half hour beyond my appointment time. They kept dithering about trying to find some old paperwork I'd filled out, only to make me fill it out again. OK, not a big deal. So I filled out my paperwork, and waited another 10 minutes. And FINALLY, I was called into a room. Not the treatment room, mind you. The "INTERROGATION" room. I was assaulted with question after question after question about my skin, my habits, my astrological sign (kidding), my this, my that. I stated VERY FIRMLY, but politely, that I was there to have a relaxing facial. Nothing more, nothing less. I didn't have any "goals," I just wanted to have a simple facial. And that fell upon deaf ears. The questions kept coming. And then the advice; this is wrong, you shouldn't do that, your face has CRAZY big pores (it doesn't) and I knew this was all leading up to trying to sell me a more expensive facial along with PRODUCTS. PRODUCTS, PRODUCTS, PRODUCTS, and more expensive facial packages. Because hey, with their 1-year beauty school degrees, they are SKINCARE SCIENTISTS and they know SO MUCH MORE THAN YOU DO ABOUT YOUR SKIN! (I'm a nurse and I smell bullshit a mile away). So I asked politely again, pleaded, actually. And Again and Again and Again I begged them to JUST STOP!! I wanted my facial...NOW. But no, the sales pitch kept coming..." See, the PROBLEM IS, your T Zone is oily (it's not) but your skin is dry and boy do we need to sell you a LOT of things to fix this MESS OF A FACE YOU HAVE!
I finally got so frustrated I just walked out the door. I said if they wouldn't give me my facial and STOP SELLING, I was going to have to leave. So I did. And they got all sing-songy..."Ba Bye! Have a NICE DAY!!!!" I was so angry with these nitwits!! And the cherry on top of all of this? They IMMEDIATELY sent me an email saying they were charging me for the blow out (because it was the only thing prepaid)...and they had a POLICY, dontcha know, about "cancellations." They took no responsibility whatsoever for their utter lack of respect, horrific customer service and pathetic lack of professionalism.
Take a PASS on this JOKE of a salon!
Boo. Hiss....
