The city of Houston owned Baldwin Park is currently undergoing a major renovation paid for by the Midtown Redevelopment Authority. Extensive renovations include $400k of additional lighting, upgrading the 7 ft wide walking paths, and TLC for the old oaks. The Midtown Management District is installing new playground equipment for use by children aged 6-12 years. The new look modern equipment with an urban slant to it allows children the opportunity to use their imagination in a free play atmosphere. The park is slated for completion in the fall of 2013. We were drawn to come after hearing about how it has the coolest trees in Houston, but having an extensive playground plus a lot of open play area and a lot of shade made it even better. My kids love the idea of climbing trees, but it’s usually not very accessible or not allowed. These old, strong trees made for a really fun time of exploring and climbing trees. A swing set to swing on so you can feel like a bird that's flying. It is my happy place feeling like I am flying through the air. I feel closest to God when I swing on the swings.
