If your a student that is requiring financial aid to be able to go to school DO NOT GO HERE.. I worked on getting my financial aid and school picked out for about 5 straight months and was told two different things and the third one with the final blow that I would have to wait another full month before the loans would hit and make sure once they are released it also requires a processing time so add 3 to 7 days after they finally release it and do not by any means go by the release posted dates they show in the online finical account statements that's just a day They put in for everyone it means nothing , just looks good for them. They stretched classes out almost for sure on purpose to hang on to that money longer to float them most likely. I really wish I went with the school that walked through the whole enrollment ensuring I would get the most out of grants and loans so I could attend also reached out to me many of times just to see where I was in my mind also the advisor were nice and informative which not what I can say for this school it was like pulling teeth to even get some one to talk to in person and over the phone and each way they were pretty rude acting as if I was taking up their time. On the upside my educator is really pretty awesome knowing what I have to work with and my struggles just waiting for financial aid and been very very helpful and understanding edu1300 thank you TC you...
Read moreMy experience with Lonestar college has been similar to walking onto a used car lot and dealing with a sleazy salesman. The process to get my son enrolled here was long and tedious. I have not had such a hard time in other states that I have lived in.
To make matters even worse I relocated from Houston for work purposes and my son had to withdraw from the Spring 18 semester. When he attempted to enroll in college in San Antonio he found out Lonestar had not disenrolled him, billed him for the spring semester and dropped his GPA. His transcripts were being held until this was cleared up.
He appealed this decision and received a simple reply of “appeal denied.” There was no further explanation. Now my son is forced to push classes out till the the fall because he cannot utilize his VA funding until his GPA comes up. Which means school will have to be paid out of pocket.
This was not the experience I wanted for my child when I promoted higher education. This was not what I expected to happen to a veteran. Lonestar College is a school I would not...
Read moreCan I give Zero Stars? I'm barely into the registration process (as this is my only local option to get some basic classes out of the way) and online Advising is a joke. I previously received my BA from Texas A&M, and even though they have WAY more students, they are so much better about advising students. Talking to Monica Matkin has been a run around nightmare. After asking her which courses to take, if labs HAD to be done in person, lots of specific questions, all she did MULTIPLE TIMES was send me a PDF of how to register for classes. She treats students like they are stupid (Per the last email: Yeah because you didn't answer one of my questions?!) and honestly I don't think she knows how to do her job and advise students. I've dealt with advising at both A&M and Blinn, and this was by FAR my worst experience. Guess I'll have to figure it out myself as I go along, no...
