Shew Food Market — Local services in Houston

My family was long very long residence on Ave E. My grandmother knew Mr Shew and his family and employees well. He was a very kind man and a very hard worker. I remember, as a little girl going there to buy penny candy. Always greeting us as we came in. I have not been in the neighborhood in decades. Grandma's house is gone now. the store building looks much bigger than I remember. I am not sure if the store is even still open. If it is not, it is has always been a landmark of the neighborhood, everyone went to Shew's Market. My entire family (very large family ) all still fondly remember Mr. Shew and his store.
