Taqueria Los Charros on 76th — Restaurant in Houston

A hole in the wall spot for Mexican food. We enjoyed our time and food there, so no pictures... Assumingly ran by a family, so the wait on food is a little long. But the chips & salsa were so on point, we didn't mind waiting. I ordered the charro plate, comes with beef & chicken fajita with cactus and grilled onions. The cactus was so tender and juicy, it didn't have the sticky or slimy residue. I've had cactus from some other places, and they can't get rid of that sticky or slimy residue that cactus has, but this place did it perfectly! The fajitas were seasoned well and cooked well. The beef fajita was still juicy, but I didn't get to try mines as my son ate all my fajita. (And he's a very picky eater when it comes to carne, so seeing him ask for more off my plate, shows us that he enjoyed the fajita as well) And my husband ordered the parillada charra, similar to mine, but came with shrimp, served on a sizzling comal. His was loaded and was very well cooked. The limonada & horchata were perfect too. It was definitely a thirst quencher.

For several years, I would come tho eat breakfast with my father, every other Sunday, barely missing, our schedule. I used to really enjoy, this place. Service and food quality has gone down. last 2 times, I've been, I got barely warm food. The second time, I asked then to heat up my eggs over medium. I got them back, with the yolk as in a boiled egg. That was just poor customer service. They should have just cooked new eggs. I realize now, they cook all food, way ahead. Even breakfast eggs. Taquería Los Charros in Houston truly exceeded my expectations! I came specifically to try the menudo, and it was absolutely amazing, full of rich flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served piping hot. Easily one of the best menudo I've ever had!
