If you value high quality ingredients, personality, healthy options and supporting local small business endeavors, then The Sandwich Shoppe at Medic One Pharmacy is a gem in the small city of Alvin. I walked in as a stranger during my first visit, but was quickly afforded a handshake and an introduction to Anthony, the man in charge. I've received the same handshake each time I've visited. They give the impression that they genuinely care about their customers.
The ingredients are of high quality. They seem to be using mostly Boar's Head products along with a few homemade sauces and other added ingredients like fresh vegetables. The sandwich options vary enough to make each visit feel like a new experience (personally I feel the Big Elmer is the best). The sandwiches themselves are always genuinely fresh and flavorful. There are a WIDE VARIETY of homemade sodas, healthy shake options (as well as unhealthy ones, you savages), ice cream, candies, etc..
Do not misunderstand, the place is not perfect, there is no place in this town that is absolutely perfect. In fact, most of the food options in Alvin are subpar. The Sandwich Shoppe is only months old and I've seen vast improvement in the short time I've been coming. I expect to see the kinks of opening a new business worked out. If you have worked in the industry, you can appreciate the effort that is being put in here, the personal touch and the genuine quality of the product. Put into the context of the city they reside in, this place is one of the few places that you can call a great food experience in Alvin. I am confident that if they continue with what they have started here, I will enjoy this place for as long as I reside in Alvin.
Bonus Fact: The Food Network is always...

I couldn't taste the strawberry mayo or the special mustard, there was barely a schmear and I was so disappointed. Seriously let down. The bread was soggy too.
I even referred the entire staff at the Sure Stay Best Western and they ordered the gobbler that I added to my call in order for the RIVER OAKS sandwich.
There was nothing River Oaks about it, they would not be happy to have that sandwich named after them. I would know because I was raised and schooled in River Oaks my entire childhood and teenage years before I left for college. Don't disrespect them like that...
Read moreKinda hard to find, was unaware that it even existed until I saw post on Facebook about it. I gave it try. The staff were polite and on top of things. The environment was clean and old time feel. I ordered the Gobbler Sandwich, chips and Black cherry Soda @ 10 bucks not bad. The taste of the sandwich was pretty good, toasted nicely and plenty of meat and the veggies were fresh. I was slightly disappointed the sandwich is suppose to come with Cranberry, either they forgot to put some or it was so little I could not taste it over the strawberry mustard. My soda was not sweet enough to me, they were very busy so I drank it anyhow. I will surely come and try some other sandwiches and...
