Star Meat Processing Market — Local services in Houston

I purchased a large order of meat from this establishment — two dark meats and chicken. Everything was prepackaged by them. When I got home, I put everything straight into the refrigerator. The next day, when I opened the chicken to prepare it, the smell was overwhelming. It immediately filled my kitchen with a foul odor strong enough to make you gag. The two dark meats were perfectly fine, but the chicken was clearly spoiled.

I called the store, and instead of taking responsibility, they essentially told me it must have been my fault. That makes no sense — if the other meats stored in the same fridge were perfectly good, why would only the chicken be bad? On top of that, the chicken was the cheapest part of my purchase, so why would I make up an issue just to get a refund? I had a party for 100 guests coming up, and if I hadn’t caught this, I could have unknowingly served spoiled chicken and made people seriously ill.

Eventually, the person on the phone even admitted that it didn’t add up for just the chicken to spoil while the other meats remained fresh, meaning it was likely already bad before being packaged. Yet, they still refused to refund or replace it.

This is unacceptable. Selling spoiled meat and then refusing to make it right shows they don’t care about their customers’ health or safety. I will never shop here again, and I strongly urge others to inspect any meat carefully before...

I have been buying meat here since 14 years ago. Prices are cheaper then most meat markets around. The meat is also graded best in north side of Houston. Honestly the bad comments around here are because a Karen didn’t get her way or a Maria and do this to mess with a good business. Not to mention anytime you get meat from this place they always show you the cuts before you take it and they tell you what...

Rude owners in the back are selective about who they receive into the establishment. Place has a odor indicative of uncleanliness. Someday they will realize all people should be treated the same. I've had this experience with them various times; which I have seen and heard. I wish them well but I won't ever spend my money...
