Yesterday I asked my friends on Facebook who has the best pancakes. I got a few answers and decided to try Simos. I’m so glad I did! It was a little bit of a drive, which is no big deal since I drive all day for a living. It was worth every mile! I got the Simos special, so I was able to sample quite a bit of food as you can see. Not only were the pancakes, delicious, but the whole meal was awesome! They have that good thick bacon, and everything was cooked to perfection. It’s hard to find good grits, but let me tell you these were on point. The breakfast comes with three large eggs, four thick strips of bacon, Your choice of grits or hashbrowns or for $1.49 more you can have both. It also comes with two fluffy pancakes that melt in your mouth. I washed it down with some sweet tea because that’s what we do here in Texas! Lol. I was told by my waitress UB who was so sweet and attentive that they have a pretty amazing lunch menu. Lunch is from 11 to 3 but I was told to be here before one or they run out of the daily specials. I’m looking forward to checking out lunch and coming back again for breakfast. This is now one of my new...

The food is outstanding, and the breakfast menu is everything you'd expect from a diner in the South, including succulent, well-seasoned breakfast pork chops, and even chicken fried steak. The standout, almost an afterthought, was the crispy-on-the-outside, lightest, fluffiest, most perfect biscuit imaginable. Or was that a cloud?

But it's the vibe that really makes this place. We went for a very late breakfast, and found lots of apparent regulars, lingering over empty plates, with full coffee cups, talking and joking with each other across tables, generations, etc. The customers all knew each other, and the staff knew all of them.

For visitors to America's 4th largest city, it was like being in a small friendly town. Love is a strong word, but in this case, it's the right one: we could feel the love in that room. It was positively therapeutic.

Bottom line, go for the excellent food and service with a smile, stay for the 5-star vibe. And say...

The food here is incredible — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was perfect. But what truly made our visit unforgettable was our waitress, Nancy.

From the second we sat down, she greeted us with the kindest smile and made us feel right at home. She’s the kind of person who doesn’t just take your order — she takes the time to connect, recommend dishes you’ll actually love, and make sure every detail is just right. You can tell she takes real pride in her work and genuinely cares about every guest she serves.

I also have to shout out the rest of the staff — everyone was friendly, professional, and worked together like a well-oiled machine. You could feel the positive, welcoming atmosphere from the entire team. The kitchen staff was on point, the food runners were quick and polite, and you can tell this is a place where the whole team cares about giving guests a...

Simos is a hidden gem. They have a menu that features burgers and some Greek dishes, items I've yet to order, but their real attraction is the steam table line. A classis meat plus three. Three sides that is. The main courses range from chicken fried steak to stuffed cabbage. My favorite item is the fried fish. A mild white fish coated with cornmeal and perfectly fried. A few weeks ago they had lamb shank, and it was flawless. Most of the side dishes are made with fresh vegetables instead of canned. Veggies like steamed broccoli, stewed squash, greens, and boiled cabbage. I always get a small Greek salad as one of my sides. Honestly, the food is fresh homemade style and you could survive eating there everyday. Simos has many regular customers, including me. The building and prices are quite modest. The service is friendly and welcoming. Keep in mind they close early at 3pm.

Today, me and my husband went into Simo‘s diner. The waitress was nice to us. The food was really really good. I do feel like I could’ve had more grits for the price that I paid for the omelette and grits and biscuit. My Husband loved his Simo’s special and I got a Greek omelette. It was really good everything was clean in the restaurant. The people were all friendly. I like the location. It reminded me of when I was growing up. We used to always go in that area on North Shepherd a lot, so I really liked my visit today. The owner took time to chitchat with us for a minute.

A perfect place for an abundant breakfast or brunch. In a friendly environment. We came at breakfast time and tried the “Simos Special”: 3 eggs, bacon, a sausage patty, hash browns or grits and a biscout or pancake. I choose scramble eggs and they were so buttery and the hash browns had a delicious flavor. Service was amazing, Norma was our waitress and she was so efficient and explained us about the brunch they offer after 11. Definetely come back and try brunch too.
