Great Old School Hardware Store. This is a great little local hardware store. Well, not exactly LITTLE. It is a full sized store. Little compared to the big orange box store that everyone is used to these days. The difference with Stokes is: service and knowledge. At Stokes, someone is available to help you with what you need. What is that little thingie that attaches to the other threaded thingie? They will actually help you figure it out! I have no idea what size o ring my faucets needs but this is the old one. They know where that replacement is. Outstanding. Do they have 50 types of the exact item with pallets stacked above it? No. But, do you need all those choices when you just want to stop your toilet bowl from running constantly? Not really. I go out of my way to give these guys my business when I am able as there are not many full service hardware stores like this around these days. Another thing I like is there is no judgement. Let's be honest here. I am no expert and I do not always know the proper terminology/names of things. Fixing things is simply not my job. I have been to some places where it feels like they give you a condescending smile when you don't know what things are called. Stokes is NOT like that at all. They help you and you never feel like they are rushing you. When I need something and don't want to have to search all day for an orange smock to help me find it, this is the place I go. I have been coming to this hardware store for over 24 years and I knew the former owners who were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The cashiers still work there and they are also still friendly, polite and helpful to the customers. However, now there is a guy with a Willie Nelson-style beard who is a nightmare! He is not at all friendly and does not give you the attention that you require as a customer. You only see them holding the shelves so they don't fall over! and when you ask him what if you want it and if not then leave there are like 13 or 16 times that I visited the hardware store in the last 2 months and aside from that they do not give you a good service when you ask for help they give you parts that you are not even going to use and many of the times the employees do not have enough knowledge and you ask them they do not know they have to call another and the other talks to the other and that other talks to the one with the Willie Nelson beard (He is white) and he also does not know and more when you are Hispanic only says 2 or 3 words and disappears and looks at you as if you were going to ask him for FREE or will it be Because I am LATINO the only person that I see that is very cordial is a young man named Vicente who in my opinion he should be the manager or manager unfortunately the last times I have visited the hardware store I have not seen him also the cashiers are excellent 👌 In short, it is not the same anymore 😕

tengo mas de 24 años viniendo a esta ferretería y conocí a las antiguos dueños que eran muy atentos,amables y serviciales de echó ahí todavía trabajan las señoritas cajeras las cuáles también siguen siendo amables educadas y serviciales con los clientes pero ahora hay un tipo de barba estilo Willie Nelson Que Es Una Pesadilla !! es una persona nada cordial y no te da la atención que requiere uno cómo cliente sólo los ves deteniendo los estantes para que no se vayan a caer !! y cuándo le pide qué si lo quieres y si no pues vete van como 13 o 16 beses que visito la ferretería en los últimos 2 meses y aparté de qué no te dan un servicio bueno cuando pides ayuda te dan piezas que ni vas a ocupar y muchas de las beses los empleados no tienen el conocimiento suficiente y les preguntas no saben tienen que llamar a otro y el otro le habla al otro y ese otro le habla al de las barbas de Willie Nelson ( El Es Blanco) y tampoco sabe y más cuándo uno es hispano sólo dice 2 o 3 palabras y se desaparece y lo ve a uno cómo si fueras a pedirle REGALADO o será Porque soy LATINO la única persona qué yo veo que es muy cordial es un joven que se llama Vicente qué a mi juicio el debería de ser el encargado o Manager desafortunadamente las últimas beses que yo he visitado la ferretería no lo he visto también las cajeras son excelentes 👌 En difinitiva ya no...

I usually enjoy hitting up this hardware store rather than a big box company. Dusty shelves, but I can usually walk away with what I needed. The staff can be a little pushy. There is one guy that follows you through the aisle and repeats where things are. Either walk me to it or say where i can find it. Its strange to half help. Today- I didn't realize they closed within 15 minutes of arriving, but the guy hounded us to hurry and get what we came for because they were closing early. First, I get it. You want to be out on time. Just consider the experience you created for someone that was ALREADY going to just grab what they came for and go. Second, it's a little tacky to have the staff hanging around the front with their purses talking about not being able to wait to get out of there, can we leave early.
