I recently moved into an apartment of my own and was in need of several furniture pieces to accommodate that. I was told about this establishment because they are cheap, and in the end you certainly get what you pay for! I went there by myself, 25 years old btw, and was persistently hounded by four separate employees that consistently tried to talk to me about personal topics, where I went to school, what clubs do I like to frequent. I literally had to tell, THE MANAGER, that I might be persuaded to buy something if he would quit following me. I realize that it's a salesman's nature to stay in contact with you while you are shopping to know what you like and what you don't like, however as soon as one man walked away from me, within five seconds, another was right behind me. Not to mention, they wanted to speak of nothing professional at all. The entire time I am looking at the furniture, they played this VERY loud, obnoxious rap music and took the liberty to scream at one another from across the store, about very personal matters! One employee was literally having a shouting match with another from across the store over did the one employee 'get any booty last night'! I found one reasonable man to help me purchase my furniture and he was indeed helpful and professional. He expressed his apologies for my experiences and said that unfortunately, that is the norm around there. Even the men that delivered my furniture were hitting on me in my own home!! They were asking me would I like to go out with them and am I into black guys at all, very unprofessional to say the least! I am shocked that there hasn't been any sexual harassment claims filed against this place!! Well, I have only had my sectional couch for three to four months and there is already signs of wear and tear. I called them to ask them about replacing it and I literally could not hear the man on the phone because the music they were playing was soo loud! I asked them about replacing the cushions that were coming apart and he said that they don't replace the cushions and I didn't get the five-year warranty so there was nothing he could do. I told him at no time was I ever informed of any type of warranty on the furniture at all and that the only thing I was told was that they use a furniture moving company but if you have any problems with them, they aren't responsible because even though they use this one specific company, they actually have no affiliation with them at all. Very strange indeed. So basically I am left with a $900 couch that I have only have for four months and already looks to be at least ten years old. This is absolutely the worst experience of any major purchase I have ever had! These are the most incompetent, unprofessional, rude, and clearly by the way they dress and carry themselves, uneducated group of individuals I have ever come across! Ladies, take my advice please! Do not EVER go to this place without having a male with you or else you will be stalked out like the piece of meat you will be made to feel when you leave! If you value your time, money, and dignity, stay far, far away...
Read moreI want to comment on how horrible my experience was and explain why I will never do business with you all ever again if I could give this place zero stars I would. I went to american freight on the 3rd of February I put a Watson sectional on layaway a dining table and a coffee table. I previously got my dining room table besides the fact that they dropped the first one on the ground they did grab a new one out the back.. This past Wednesday I went in to put 200.00 down on my layaway and explained to them I will be back Saturday to pay it in full I had to go out of town for a funeral I also made sure that when I come in on Saturday they would be able to deliver and they said yes. They reassured me the couch would be there and ready to deliver. Today is Saturday i called the store just to make sure i would be able to get my couch delivered and they tell me I wouldnt be able to get my couch until monday because they are backed up so I went to rent a uhaul. I go in the store to pay and pick up the couch I had on layaway and that's when I discover that all the couches are sold and the money I had been paying for the couch I thought was on hold for me only holds the price where it's at and so they try to give me the couch in a bigger size but would cost me 100 more dollars I explained to them that's not what I wanted I had been paying on a couch that I thought was being held for me like every other layway after standing around for 25 minutes with no answers I go back to the counter and the store manager Austin explains to me that he will give me a couch that they had in the back and just get another transfered from another store for whoever they were taking that couch from. So I ask if they are giving me a couch today because I had just rented a uhaul to get the couch out and they said yes. Well they run my card for the remaining balance of 341.82 and tell me that the guys in the back will call my name when they get my couch I said ok.. After waiting 30minutes for them to call my name another worker Bernard explains to me that the store manager didn't look at the inventory they had and they don't even have the couch in stock. So he tells me he can give me the bigger one and I would have to put down another 109.00 on top of what they just ran my card on. I explained to him I don't see that that's fair that I would have to pay another 109 dollars and you all just charged my card and I don't even get the couch I wanted and had been paying for. He explains to me he's sorry and that the manager should have looked at the inventory before he ran my card. At that point I was fed up with the customer service and the store I asked for a refund and took everything else I had on layaway off. I use to be a customer service manager that is one of the first things you make sure before you charge someone anything. Now I'm out of 42.00 for the uhaul I rented for the couch I was told I would have today and I am out of a couch. Unbelievable. I wrote corporate and hopefully things will get better...
Read moreBy far this has been the worse experience ever. They advertise same day delivery but when they deliver your order you are missing several objects you purchased. I purchased a living room set as well as a full bedroom set. They delivered the living room set but on my bed room I was missing the rails for my bed the mirror and dresser. I was informed that the sales person was aware of the missing parts but refused to call me to inform me after the delivery man made him aware of the missing pieces. I was told it would be delivered the next day but the next day I talked to 2 managers and the sales person I purchased the items from and was told I would get a status within a few minutes. They hung up on me every time I called back I was magically talking to a different person which was unaware of the situation. I let it ride out and called back the very next day and talked to two "different" people and I heard three different stories of why my items were not delivered one being a totaled 8 wheeler, 2 drivers in the hospital to they are unloading and loading the merchandise to another 8 wheeler. I let it ride out another day one manager called me and states I would have my merchandised delivered that day. I was tired of all the phone calls that I decided to show up to the store. I identified myself and I asked for the persons name which I was speaking with and by hearing his name I knew it was same of the manager I had spoke with that refused to call me back. Automatically he got in defensive mode stating I was being confrontational by me showing up to the store. Long story short I kept it professional because I am not a confrontational person but his words exactly where " all sales are final and you will get your things when you get them" l and these are the words from a manager! Also I would like to mention they are unprofessional I was hit on by 2 sales representatives. I made it known I was married and one representatives response was "well he isn't here and you are fine as hell " here I am at 11pm waiting on my delivery that I was told I would get my missing items before 9! I put no blame on the driver because I was informed he does not work for the store itself the is a contractor but out of all the people I have spoke with he has been the most professional and made sure I was aware of every situation that came up.
