Visited the store today to check out fruit trees and bushes. There was a nice setup outside and a nice selection to choose from. I ended up buying a few blue berry bushes. When we went inside the store to check out a few more items, we naturally went to check out the chicks & ducklings. There was another customer waiting near the ducklings, obviously waiting for a salesmen to assist her.
A young man wearing the Rural King vest entered the gated area where the chicks & ducklings were kept and asked the lady if she needed anything. She said she did, but she also had a few questions about the ducklings that she wanted to purchase. The worker didn't know. My husband ended up telling her a little bit about the ducklings from his limited knowledge of ducks. After getting the ducklings for the lady, the guy asked us if we wanted anything, and we replied that we were still just looking. So he left.
15 minutes later, more customers started gathering around the chicks and ducklings, and we decided to go ahead and purchase some ducklings. We looked around for the young man who assisted the lady but couldn't find him. My husband and I decided to walk around the store for a little bit to see if he would return.
We walked towards the back of the store and saw that young man driving a forklift while sweeping the floor with a push broom. Instead of sweeping up the mess on the floor by hand, he was reversing and driving with the broom. We could hear him spinning the tires and basically just horsing around on the forklift.
After 15 minutes of looking through Rural King's gun selection, we went back to the ducklings to see if we could purchase any. There were a lot more customers there at this time. The young sales associate was back by the gate talking to a customer, but before I could get his attention, he was gone again. Another 10 minutes went by, and then a young sales associate named Alyssa walked by and saw the large crowd of customers. She walked up and asked if anyone needed help, to which I replied, yes please.
Alyssa helped me get two Pekin ducklings. Sadly, there was a little duckling in the bin that had passed away but was just left in the bin.
I was happy to buy my ducklings but sad that there seemed to be quite a few deceased animals in the bin along with the live ones. Aside from the deceased duckling, there were two chicks from two other bins that were deceased. I'm keeping an eye on my ducklings and hoping that...
Read moreI’m not one to typically write negative reviews, but I am leaving Rural King very frustrated right now. I am new to the gardening, world and homeownership as of a few months, and I have been going to Rural King and other various gardening and hardware stores to search for things that I am not so familiar with. This is the second time and the past two weeks, I have gone to Rural King and both times I had several questions to ask and needed help finding thing, and both times, I experienced very little help and could not find anyone really to ask questions. Today, I needed help finding u post for my garden. I wandered around the store for 20 minutes and could not find them, so I start doing another lab to try to find any worker as I had not seen any. I finally found someone in the food section, a nice older lady, and asked her if she knew where the posts were. She said she did not know, and also didn’t offer to find someone to help me. So I walk up to the front and there was only one younger cashier who had like 10 people in line so I didn’t feel comfortable going in front of everyone to ask her so I start looking for somebody else I go outside and there was no one in the fence and garden in Post area so I try to figure it out myself and I am unsure if the post was the right one with the holes in it. I go back inside and see if there’s anyone I can help me, I finally find a younger boy and ask him if he knows where they are. He told me the person that works out there probably is on vacation or isn’t here today , so I thought point I’m very irritated because I sought out three times to find someone who can help me and no one knew anything about garden posts, nor did they seek a manager to help me. This is very frustrating for someone who is feeling already pretty overwhelmed with all this new information of gardening, lawn care, pest control, etc. , I’m giving two stars because the sparse staff i could find were nice but I am omitting three stars because of the lack of staff to answer questions, nobody in the entire outside garden area, and inability to leave with what I really needed that day. Sorry for any spelling errors, I’m using voice text and it won’t let me scroll back to correct any grammar or...
Read moreThe customer service at rural King is terrible, I went in there like I normally do to order my chicken and pet feed and the woman said they're not going to "take orders and go fetch anymore". She had a very entitled tone and demeanor upon this announcement. So I said you're calling me some kind of a** that expects you to play fetch? And she said we are a retailer not a feed supply store so we don't do that anymore because we have a new manager. They sell 20 to 25% of their store as a farm store. I don't care if they're technically not a feed store, this is a service that they should be providing. She said if I wanted to get assistance I had to get a flat cart and go wait for somebody. How is that any different than me ordering at the counter and them bringing it to me? I can't lift 50 lb bags, I need someone to assist me with that so I go back there with a flat cart I wait for the guy, the guy loads it, the guy drags it to the cash register, they ring it up, the guy drags it to my truck, the guy loads it up. How is that any different from me ordering it at the counter and then calling him to go get it and then him bringing it to my truck and me paying up front? It actually seems more of a hassle for the loader because then they have to stand in line and wait for me to pay. They're just petty and lazy, and yeah that's probably a crappy part of their job but everybody has crappy parts of their job. I will not purchase a single item from rural king ever again. Walmart a RETAILER will allow me to order dog and cat food online and for a slight bit more in price they will deliver it to my front door. Mountaintop hardware, I went in there after I left rural king and I told him what I wanted, they simply went and got a handcart loaded it up and took it to my truck. I didn't even have to ask them they just did it. As a courtesy. So I will be looking for corporate rural king number and letting them know that their employees are lazy and rude to customers. And from now on I'm getting my dog and cat food from Walmart and I'm getting all my chicken feed from mountain...
