I was so excited to get food from here. I've heard such great things and have yet to find a good Chinese place out here so when my boyfriend asked where I wanted to go for my birthday I said instead of going out i wanted China taste and just stay at home and watch a movie. Worst decision ever. I ordered small versions of the chicken lo mein and beef and broccoli. Both were pretty terrible. The lo mein had a slight fishy taste and the chicken had a really odd texture. Not much flavor in that meal. The beef and broccoli beef is weird. The broccoli is good, seems fresh but the beef is this super thin rubbery "meat" i couldn't even eat it I just ate the broccoli and carrots. Ended up mixing those in with my lo mein to give it more flavor. We also got cheese wontons which were good. And fried dumplings which were not good. They meat was salty and tasted like some kind of sausage meatball and when I would cut into it or bite it the whole meatball would just pop out. The dough was really think and still pretty doughy. My boyfriend had general tso. I didnt try it but I didn't even have to ask him how it was. He said it was really gross and he couldn't eat it he said the sauce had a strange taste. And he usually gets the white rice with it not fried which I thought it said it came with white, I wasn't asked for which one I wanted but they gave us fried. That's probably my fault for not making sure but he only took one bite of the rice and threw the whole thing out. Wasn't a fan of any of it. So the fried cheese wontons are good. The people working were nice. The kitchen looked clean except for the exhaust fans over the stoves. They looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the place opened. Super gross. I wouldn't go there again. I was really disappointed and think I'm just giving up in Chinese food after...
Read moreHonestly...really disappointed. I read all the rave reviews of this place and couldn't wait to try it. I love dives, so I was especially excited. Other reviewers expressed disappointment with the service, but I thought it was fine. Friendly, pleasant, and fast. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but my food wasn't good, and my friend's wasn't much better. I had chicken fried rice. The rice was flavorless and kind of gummy, and it didn't taste fried. I liked the addition of the peas and a few other veggies to the mix, but the chicken tasted strange. It was made up of very small chunks, much of which was dark meat--which I do not like. It was a weird consistency and had very little flavor, almost...canned tasting? I have no idea. My friend had sweet and sour chicken, and it was not what we expected. A box of fried chicken pieces (not fried like KFC/crispy, but almost the texture of a doughnut hole) and a big bowl of sweet and sour sauce was delivered to us. It tasted alright, but wasn't a home run. The highlight of the meal was the egg drop soup. It was tasty, had a strong eggy flavor but was not overwhelming. Plus, you could order crispy wonton strips for .25 cents more to top, which is a must-have. On the whole, the prices are great and the service is good, but for me, the food did not deliver what the reviews led me to expect. Oh well. I may be back to try again, in case I picked the wrong thing. Can't beat 6.25 for a meal, soup, and an egg roll...
Read moreI would totally give this place 4 or 5 stars because the food was amazing the one time I ate there. But I was very insulted by the customer service I received. I was at work and everyone wanted to order Chinese so I was asked to call our order in. I was warned before hand that I the man who would answer the phone would be very hard to understand, apparently something had happened to his throat. Well I call and the man is pretty much completely unable to speak, he just made stuttering sounds and groans. I was giving him our order and he was trying to ask me something but I couldn't make out what he was saying. Finally he managed to say the word "S**t" and the phone was slammed down. I had just been hung up on and could hardly believe it.
I understand that the poor man cannot help his condition but they should get someone else to man the phones. And cursing at a potential customer and hanging up on them is not good business at all. A coworker instead went to the restaurant to place our order and the food was really good. The customer service over the phone however leaves MUCH...
