We come every year but we probably won't be next year after being outright lied to TWICE! By the state fair in 2024.
First when buying wristband tickets they said we could buy wrist bands through to the 6th and it would be $30 a band. That was what I was told BY THE TICKET OFFICE.
Then they advertised wristbands this year as being able to be used any day of the fair. We were told AT THE TICKET OFFICE that the wristband vouchers were good everyday of the fair.
They aren't! Wristbands are only usable Monday through Friday of the fair. That's it. So we wasted our entry tickets today because we were lied to about when wristbands could be used. We were going to ride rides today and now my kid is disappointed.
State fair keeps getting more and more expensive. Little kid rides are 9 tickets a piece so you can't even ride rides without a wristband at this point.
And now they falsely advertised the wristbands.
Seriously. Screw the fair at this point.
I want to reiterate for people who bought wristbands. WRISTBANDS DO NOT WORK ON THE WEEKENDS!!! DESPITE HOW THE CITY ADVERTISED THEM! If you bought wrist bands and were planning on using them the last weekend of the fair. Know you you will NOT get a wristband. Instead they will give you tickets, which again... is USELESS when the little kid motorcycle ride is 9 damn tickets.
Edit: First off. We came back Monday so we could actually use our wristbands. My son just got kicked out of line for a ride. Because the wrist bands stop working at 10pm. No one told us this when we bought the vouchers. No one told us that when we redeemed our vouchers. My kid is upset cause I told him we'd stay till 10:30.
On top of that. I don't know how anyone is gonna ride rides if they can't get wristbands this year. Only one ride we saw was under 9 tickets. That being the little kids big slide at 6 tickets. Every other ride is 9-15 tickets EACH. With ticket prices being $10 for 20 tickets, $30 for 65 tickets, or $60 for 140 tickets. These prices are INSANE. So parents beware going the last weekend of the fair. Because you can't use the wristbands and ticket prices...
Read moreOkay, this is my review of the Kansas State Fair from an Oklahoman point of view: I recently moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the last year and I went to the Missouri State Fair last month so I had to go to the Kansas State Fair and see the difference. Wow! The Kansas State Fair is much larger than the Missouri State Fair and much closer in similarities to the Oklahoma State Fair. I Loved it! People were very friendly and anyone I asked for directions was very helpful. I drove 3 hours to get there and I even started later than expected so I didn't get to the Fair till 7pm, a bit late but definitely still worth it for $1.00 admission. I really enjoy looking at vendors/booths preferably indoors just to see what neat new thing they have. I will definitely come back next year. Food: I only saw one vendor sell turkey legs. But I saw a lot selling some version of nachos. I got a regular funnel cake from Jessica's Funnel cakes for $6.00 it was really good. See photo I got a small bag of Carmel popcorn from an indoor vendor for $6.00- haven't tried it yet. I got a dozen mini cinnamon sugar donuts for $5.00- I tried one really good - will bring for work tomorrow lol. See photo. I got a corn on the cob $5.00 - was really good. I got a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream $4.00 (no extra charge for toppings) it was really good but I couldn't eat it all. see photo. And last but not least I got some fried green tomatoes $6.00- it was good had a couple and brought the rest home. Booth vendors: some odd things I've never seen before at a fair = multiple "parenting" booths/ anti-abortion booths and some...
Read moreComing to the Kansas state fair has been a family tradition for many years I'd say over 59 years. We would get up at 4 am and leave home and drive 220 miles to the fair and spend the day then it was 3 am before we got back home. I was never allowed to rid the rides or buy food we took sandwiches in a cooler. My dad was a poor farmer and he loved to look at all the machinery and crops while my mom and I looked at the quilts and fancy work. We had no cell phone so we would meet at a time in a certain place. Then we started bringing our 2 children and we couldn't afford the rides either or the food but we had fun and we brought the tent and put it up out in the parking lot and it was hot sleeping. But now we come with our grandkids and have a camper in the rv Park and we spend the whole time the fair is on. We ate ambassadors and the grandkids help us pass out flyers. We enjoy some food and they each get 2 arm bands but they r in school now so they only come down on the weekends. They are in 4-h and will be bringing rabbits this year. We have so much fun. The rv Park is a super place to park. The overseers make our stay memorable!! Thank u Kansas State Fair for all...
