El Potrillo Restaurant — Restaurant in Hutchinson

I used to live in Hutchinson and my daughters and I were back from Houston visiting family for the weekend. 15 years ago this place was one of our favorite neighborhood spots to eat so I thought we'd go back. Boy has that changed! I don't like to post negative reviews, but felt this was necessary. This visit was such a disappointment. The food was terrible and the service was rude. My mom and I each ordered a chicken taco salad. Hers came with tough beef and both of ours were runny, soupy and tasteless! The salsa tasted like spicy ketchup. It was obvious that our server was annoyed that we came in as it was in the middle of a Sunday afternoon and no one else was there. We felt like we owed her an apology for coming in and giving them our business. She was very short with us and didn't stay at the table long enough to take our requests as she rushed off while we were still ordering. I felt guilty asking her for ANYthing. We tried to be super nice but she was dry, blunt and not pleasant. She even told us that it was obvious we weren't from there. I wasn't sure how to take that. She made us feel very uncomfortable. The food was way overpriced for what we got. I would NOT recommend this place and will certainly never step foot in there again. SO sad what...

HORRIBLE!! The food was dreadful, We had to wait over an hour for our kids to get their food, by that time all the adults were done and ready to leave. The kids had very over cook, store bought low grade chicken nuggets and bland barely cooked fries. I under stand it is a Mexican place, but the English, even enough to take our order or fix it, was non existent. When it came time to pay, they had marked a item wrong by 4$..not much but that is NOT the point, after they flat out argued with us, they fixed it, only adding ''go some where else next time'' and ''you no eat here''...When it came time to pay the second ticket, half cash half on a card (I had forgot my purse at home) the manager kept pushing the money back at me, saying I did not know how to count it was not enough.........WHAT? after 5 times, he finally realized in fact, we did have the correct amount.

It was down right horrifying. 13 of us will NEVER eat...

Great family run Mexican restaurant. We went on a Sunday night when the restaurant we were supposed to go to close two hours earlier than Google said that it was going to close. This was one of the few places still open. I'm so happy they were open. The service was amazing, but I think we were the only people in the place. A large group was leaving when we arrived. So anyway, we ordered quickly ish. She got a shrimp dish. I got the steak fajitas. The food came out quickly, hot, fresh, and delicious. They have mexican fruit sodas I like. If we had come sooner we would have enjoyed talking our time in the home style mexican restaurant feel. If you've been to a real family run restaurant that's good you know what I'm talking about. It's a good place with good food and...
