I purchased a leather creme colored chair at a private sale in Idaho Falls. I was told by the salesperson the chair would be shrink wrapped for pickup. I was also told that they would condition the chair, which added an additional $80 the sales price. I was provided a leather maintenance kit with my sales slip. However, black finger prints were on the back and sides of the chair when I got it home. The chair was not shrink wrapped when we arrived to pickup the chair. In fact the individual informed us that they haven’t used shrink wrap in the last two decades and the buyer had to provide their own cover. They did provide a large lose bubble wrap that covered the chair for transport home. This discussion point should have happened at the time of sale and not discussed in a condescending manner with the customer during pickup. I give my most recent purchase with Blackers in Idaho Falls two stars because the leather condition kit at point of sale successfully removed the black finger prints. I now doubt if the $80 conditioning ever occurred. This wasn’t my first purchase from Blacker’s furniture but this will most likely be my last.
A store representative contacted me about leather conditioning of the chair after reading my post. She arranged to have delivery drivers stop by upon completion of a delivery in the area. The delivery men did stop by and applied a leather conditioner to the new chair. This process took less than 10 minuets. I appreciate the additional effort taken to ensure the leather conditioner was applied to the chair. Therefore, my recent purchase experience was definitely softened by the additional effort make by Blacker’s to ensure my leather chair was protected.
I have changed my ranking from two stars to three. The interface between the warehouseman and the customers at the time of pickup can not be undone. I cannot give a better rating for this...
Read morePurchased a leather couch and love seat August 13, 2013 and a Ultra Shield 10 year warranty from Blacker's The arm of the couch is peeling a dark film in about 6 spots, not only is the darker film making the color change, but all the leather graining is peeling away as well. The spots are smooth like plastic, a different color, with no leather grain. The sales person told us at least three time that the couch was all leather and know we are being told it is leather and bonded leather, whatever bonded leather is. Blacker's has told us that the company they bought the furniture from misrepresented it as all leather to them and I guess this is my problem. The Ultra Shield warranty, also sold by Blackers is nearly useless. For the last 3 weeks we have been told to be patient as Ultra Shield did not think that there are any technicians in SE Idaho who can honor the warranty. It would have been really swell if Blacker's had done their due diligence on both the couch and warranty before selling either.
I was called Monday by Ultra Shield to let me know that Blacker's would be calling and picking up the couch so a technician could "practice" to see if they could repair the spots. The word practice just filled me confidence. A few hours later my phone rang and it was a furniture restorer from Twin Falls, Idaho. She wanted to know when she could pick up the couch. I had no idea who she was as I had been told an entirely different story a few hours earlier. I have left 3 voice mails and 1 email to my contact at Ultra Shield and am now being ignored by Ultra Shield. The restorer in Twin Falls now does not know if she has a truck large enough to transport the sofa to Twin Falls enclosed.
In my opinion, what a joke for service and professionalism. Stay far away from this business as nothing we purchased has stood up for even two years, the leather furniture or the Ultra Shield 10...
Read moreMight be a little lengthy but bare with me. My first Blackers experienxe was a little over a year ago. The store came highly recommend and we just bought our first home and wanted everything new. We were greeted right away. I don't remember the guys name. Told him what he wanted and he was glad to help. Even told us he could do package deals. He also told us he worked for commision and the deal wouldn't hurt him. Anyways. We picked out a refrigerator, washer and dryer, and the best couch we thought they had on the floor. $7500. As we were cashing iut I pointed out that there was no package deal made. He said he couldn't make it happen. Ok. Whatever. I wanted the stuff. Took me a year to oay that all off. At this tine my grand daughter needed a bedroom set. I only went to Blackers this time because of the store credit. This time we were greeted by Tracy I believe her name was. She was awesome! Help us with everything and had amazing patience with my grand daughter. She even made it a point to stop and say hi to us few days later at kfc. Because of tracey we went back in again because ny daughter bought a home and needed a washer and dryer. We were greeted by michael lamont. He too was amazing. He price matched the washed and dryer and got them $400 cheaper then marked. And they were nicer than the ines we went in for. He made sure to ask what hoses and cords we needed and helped load them into our truck. Was disappointed with the first guy because he made us feel he was more worried about his commision then give us a package deal like he offered. But because of tracey and michael Blackers will always be our go to store and will...
