Cabin: Idyll-A-While
This has to be the easiest and best cabin renting experience we've ever had!
Martha had our keys ready to go when we arrived and gave us information on finding our rental. It was pretty easy using her directions.
The cabin was amazing. Very big, well stocked, well appointed. Three couches, three rooms, two baths, two beds and a couch bed, a hidden play room for kids, two dining tables with chairs, many outdoor tables and chairs, snow!
Lots of pots and pans with lids, cutting knifes, silverware, a decently big fridge, coffee maker, toaster, you name it, it was there!
Our grandkids got to enjoy the snow and make a snowman for the first time in their lives. We can't thank you enough, Martha! We'll be bringing our family to your cabins for years.
Update:
We just rented Brighton. It is amazing. This is a single room cabin with a hot tub, a large deck, an open living room, a full kitchen and a bedroom with curtains in case you want to sleep in.
We had everything we needed to make breakfast, BBQ dinner and enjoy ourselves without the kids on this trip.
Just about my only caveat with the cabin is that the hot tub is around the back, below the deck. So you have a little bit of a walk back into the cabin. And if it is fall or winter, it gets pretty cold. Summer time is no big deal. Bring flip flops and bathrobes, or big beach towels, or all of the above!
We will be staying here again. Possibly for an entire week next time! Highly recommended!
This cabin is very much in walking distance to town. Takes about 8 minutes down and about 12 minutes up hill without too much slope.
More cabins to come!
Update: Sunset Cabin
This is one heck of a cabin! The layout is quite interesting and the hot tub is amazing.
This cabin butts up against some huge boulders. The carport/deck goes straight across to the cabin's entrance. There is a hot tub outside with space for 4 and it is super easy to use. We did have a decent numbers of bees that had drowned in the tub and we pulled them out using a slotted spoon we found in the kitchen. You have to expect things like this since you are going to be in nature.
The front room is humongous! The HDTV is also quite large and easily viewable from the kitchen. The kitchen is huge and has a dining table with chairs. All of the kitchen amenities you might expect are present and working. Do bring your own coffee filters, food, condiments, etc. Pots, pans, utensils are included in the kitchen.
This cabin has central air/heater so you don't need fire wood unless you really want to have a fire. Do keep in mind that the thermostat is on the lower level so if you want it to be 76 degrees on the top level (where heat rises to) you want to see this to 70-72 or you will end up with 80 degrees or more at the top.
There are two bedrooms with good beds. The windows have curtains, but they are not blackout curtains. The windows to each room face opposite sides of the house. So if you are a morning person, the East side is fine. And if you like to get up late, choose the West room.
The hot tub is around the corner so-to-speak so you are going to want to bring flip flops and robes, or large beach towels. There are no lights out there so bring a flashlight as well. An electric lamp is optimal if you are going in the hot tub at night.
There is a third level with a one bedroom apartment for 2 more people. It isn't included in the normal rate. You have to ask for it. The studio has its own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.
All in all I would say this place rocks!
Update: Bird Song
This is a nice and cozy, one bedroom cabin. It has a wood burning stove, a breakfast table by french doors and a decent sized living room. The kitchen is a bit small, but for two people it has plenty of room.
This cabin has a nice hot tub in that it is right outside on the back/front porch. There is a stone stepway to this cabin so don't bring heavy bags or coolers as you will have to carry them a decent amount of the way. Also has a BBQ...
Read moreRENTERS BEWARE!!!! April 19 we reserved Boulder cabin when we arrived. Everything looked great towards the evening as I went into the master suite to get ready for bed. I noticed a stink bug on the floor then I noticed three more. At which point my daughter screamed mom there’s a spider on the bed, this was a pretty big spider, but we were able to kill it. Thank goodness, she noticed it because it was going towards my blanket and my clothing and right where I was gonna lay. 4 more spiders, The biggest spider we saw was when I went to grab a pillow from the master bedroom, and I lifted up the comforter, and there was a huge spider probably at least an inch big sitting on the pillow underneath the comforter. Like it was his bed. Disgusting. At which point we Realize that this room was infested with spiders and bugs. It had definitely not had been dusted anytime recently, as there was a huge spiderweb right above the master bed and every corner of that room, including the corners of the roof. There was no way we were going to be able to sleep there with our two 5-year-old twins. After calling Martha and letting her know, she tried to minimize it saying oh it’s just a few spiders. Asked her I tried to explain the severity of the amount of spiders and bugs that we had found and that we could’ve been bitten. I asked is there anyway that we can be moved to a different cabin. She then called me and screaming at me and telling me what an inconvenience and she would not be able to help me because she was taking care of of her 80-year-old mother and I just come back from San Diego at which point she screamed at me and said I will give you a full refund over and over. Saturday we had to pack up all our belongings again. We had to clean the home before we left so she couldn’t charge us any fees. Isn’t that ironic we had to clean but clearly housekeeping did not. After checking out on Sunday, I messaged Martha and ask when should I expect my full refund $671 at which point she messaged back and stated that she never said that. She then left me a voicemail that contradicted her first story. Now saying I’m only able to give you a partial refund $300 because I have to pay the owner of the Cabin. to which I asked why did you offer me a full refund then if you knew you had to pay the cabin owner to which again lied and denied ever saying that. She began yelling and screaming at me telling me she doesn’t have time for this and to take it up with the credit card company. All we wanted was what we paid for which was advertised as a three bedroom two bath cabin that had been professionally cleaned before we arrive. We completely understand that we are in the mountains and of course you’re going to find a spider here and there which is not a big deal. But giving us a home where the master suite is infested with spiders is completely unacceptable. It’s Clear that this management company does not go in the cabins to verify the cleaning team is doing what they are supposed to. Martha could literally care less. She’s only happy if she gets your money. After that she could care less about you. Her customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. She’s uncapable of communicating without screaming and losing her temper. It’s clear that she has a lot on her plate trying to run a business and take care of her eighty year-old mother. She’s clearly overwhelmed, and unfortunately, it shows in the properties. We will never ever stay in her cabins again. If you have a spider phobia, I would not recommend it staying at any of her cabins because you will be in for a very...
Read moreWe have stayed many times in several different cabins hosted by Idyllwild Vacation cabins. The staff are very responsive and their properties are all very nice. In particular, on a recent trip, there was a small problem with a power outage, and the staff were able to just switch us at last minute to a different cabin partway through our stay, which they didn't really have to, but was great! Its always nice to know that the cabins we've rented are always clean and nicely setup when we arrive, and these hosts make the check in and check out procedures basically as easy as they could be. Its also nice that their prices are reasonable, and always a better deal than other rental websites that charge extra booking fees etc.
Specifically a review about the "starlight seclusion" cabin: Starlight seclusion is exactly as its name would suggest; a lovely very private secluded area, way up in the beautiful pines in the "pine cove" neighborhood. This cabin was perfect for a couple of two. There is one bedroom with a super comfy bed, a nice bathroom with a lovely slate and granite flooring and shower, and.a cozy living room that is open to a small dining area and kitchen. The high ceilings and lots of windows gives this place a nice airy feel, while still feeling like a cozy mountain cabin. There is also an upstairs loft that would be great for kids, so this cabin would also work fine for a family of 4 (and for the more adventurous, there was also a second loft area above the kitchen that someone could sleep in). Although there is no internet provided, we actually found that we were getting fantastic cell phone coverage. The hot tub was also a really nice bonus and the deck is a fantastic place to kick back. All in all, we loved this cabin and will likely book again.
Specifically a review about the "knotty pine" cabin: Knotty pine is a really great cabin! Talk about location, location, location! When this place lists as "walk to town", they really mean it, as its literally an easy 5-8 min walk to the center of town, even at a leisurely pace. At the same time, its still peaceful and quiet in a lovely part of town. The cabin itself has two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs, a large living room, dining room and kitchen on the main floor, and a bonus game room (with a pullout couch for extra sleeping area) down a half floor from the living room. There's a second powder room off the kitchen for extra convenience. The property is on a fairly large relatively level lot, with tons of large beautiful trees, including a giant oak! There is a large deck out back for entertaining, with lots of seating, a grill, and a little gas fire-pit, complete with sticks for roasting marshmallows. The pride the owners have for this property is obvious from all the nice little touches provided. I highly recommend this cabin for a family, but would actually work for a larger group too since its quite a large space with many...
