Updated Sept, 2017 Cabin: Idyll-A-While This has to be the easiest and best cabin renting experience we've ever had! Martha had our keys ready to go when we arrived and gave us information on finding our rental. It was pretty easy using her directions. The cabin was amazing. Very big, well stocked, well appointed. Three couches, three rooms, two baths, two beds and a couch bed, a hidden play room for kids, two dining tables with chairs, many outdoor tables and chairs, snow! Lots of pots and pans with lids, cutting knifes, silverware, a decently big fridge, coffee maker, toaster, you name it, it was there! Our grandkids got to enjoy the snow and make a snowman for the first time in their lives. We can't thank you enough, Martha! We'll be bringing our family to your cabins for years. Update: We just rented Brighton. It is amazing. This is a single room cabin with a hot tub, a large deck, an open living room, a full kitchen and a bedroom with curtains in case you want to sleep in. We had everything we needed to make breakfast, BBQ dinner and enjoy ourselves without the kids on this trip. Just about my only caveat with the cabin is that the hot tub is around the back, below the deck. So you have a little bit of a walk back into the cabin. And if it is fall or winter, it gets pretty cold. Summer time is no big deal. Bring flip flops and bathrobes, or big beach towels, or all of the above! We will be staying here again. Possibly for an entire week next time! Highly recommended! This cabin is very much in walking distance to town. Takes about 8 minutes down and about 12 minutes up hill without too much slope. More cabins to come! Update: Sunset Cabin This is one heck of a cabin! The layout is quite interesting and the hot tub is amazing. This cabin butts up against some huge boulders. The carport/deck goes straight across to the cabin's entrance. There is a hot tub outside with space for 4 and it is super easy to use. We did have a decent numbers of bees that had drowned in the tub and we pulled them out using a slotted spoon we found in the kitchen. You have to expect things like this since you are going to be in nature. The front room is humongous! The HDTV is also quite large and easily viewable from the kitchen. The kitchen is huge and has a dining table with chairs. All of the kitchen amenities you might expect are present and working. Do bring your own coffee filters, food, condiments, etc. Pots, pans, utensils are included in the kitchen. This cabin has central air/heater so you don't need fire wood unless you really want to have a fire. Do keep in mind that the thermostat is on the lower level so if you want it to be 76 degrees on the top level (where heat rises to) you want to see this to 70-72 or you will end up with 80 degrees or more at the top. There are two bedrooms with good beds. The windows have curtains, but they are not blackout curtains. The windows to each room face opposite sides of the house. So if you are a morning person, the East side is fine. And if you like to get up late, choose the West room. The hot tub is around the corner so-to-speak so you are going to want to bring flip flops and robes, or large beach towels. There are no lights out there so bring a flashlight as well. An electric lamp is optimal if you are going in the hot tub at night. There is a third level with a one bedroom apartment for 2 more people. It isn't included in the normal rate. You have to ask for it. The studio has its own kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. All in all I would say this place rocks! Update: Bird Song This is a nice and cozy, one bedroom cabin. It has a wood burning stove, a breakfast table by french doors and a decent sized living room. The kitchen is a bit small, but for two people it has plenty of room. This cabin has a nice hot tub in that it is right outside on the back/front porch. There is a stone stepway to this cabin so don't bring heavy bags or coolers as you will have to carry them a decent amount of the way. Also has a BBQ on back deck.

Idyllwild is an amazing town with incredible people, I highly recommend anyone to visit. I can not, however, recommend Martha and her business. We had a laundry list of issues from start to finish with our stay that significantly impacted our trip. First, we didn't receive check in information until 2 hours after our check in time, possibly due to a technology glitch, and only received it after attempting to unsuccessfully contact Martha and her office for those 2 hours. When we finally got ahold of her, she mentioned she had lost her phone, which we can understand (accidents happen), but the real issue of the situation is that she offered no apology or sympathy to the situation or to the fact that we had driven 3 hours to be in idyllwild and were stranded for those two hours she was unresponsive. She only offered us late check out after I emphasized our frustrations about the lost time in the cabin, to which she initially responded with “I would like to get my time back too from looking for my phone but that’s life” …. The conversations we had with Martha felt extremely disrespectful and inconsiderate, and it started our trip off on a sour note. The majority of the issues were with the overall maintenance of the cabin. We stayed in the Paradise in the Pines cabin, which was a truly beautiful piece of land, but the A/C didn't work and the cabin heated to over 80 degree each day, several burners on the gas stove weren't functional and would only leak gas, every piece of outdoor furniture was COVERED in spider webs, dirt, and debris as if they hadn't been touched all season, see attached pictures (which wouldn't have been an issue is we had been provided tools/cleaning supplies to use, but that was not the case). Martha claims they were cleaned before our arrival but that is just impossible, spiders don’t move that fast. We also had wasps entering the cabin through the windows(they were screened but need maintenance), we had to trap and release 5+ over the 3 day weekend. The cabin also advertised outdoor games, nameingly corn hole, but the sand sacks you are meant to throw were is horrible shape, extremely dirty with holes. We also were frustrated by the materials we were left for the house: only 4 pods for the dishwasher (we had to buy more), only two trash bags left on the counter for the 8 trash cans, no laundry soap for the washer, and nothing in the kitchen was provided for left over food storage. We try to support local businesses whenever possible, but in a world of Airbnb and the like, there are standards for maintenance and customer service that shouldn't be ignored. While walking in Idyllwild we noticed at least two other companies that provide cabin rentals so I would suggest exploring your options before electing for Martha and her business.

This was my third stay at the Luxury Log Cabin. It appears the owners must have bought a new vacation property for the holidays and have neglected any repairs. My family and I lost my twin brother to suicide and enjoyed using this place to create new family memories in his honor during the anniversary of his death. I had a text message from someone confirming my days after my last stay in 202. I realized I never received an email for this year. I contacted them asking and they put me down as two days later than what my text message from them had said. This messed up my schedule and I had to leave two days early when I had booked for 7. Even though you are not charged extra for those two days (you get a discount for booking a week) I kinda wanted to enjoy the time with my family during the anniversary of my twins death. That was the whole point of the trip. The list goes on from there. Weight machine was broken Sofa was broken when we sat down Bed frames broken in room with three beds, some with broken springs Outlet next to shower with no glass screen or anything to block water hitting it. The shower head is installed upside down so it doesn’t angle away from outlet. No toilet paper holders or towel holders downstairs Lights in main sitting area out(2 of 6 work) and other rooms were out as well Jacuzzi jets had several that didn’t work Downstairs there was still food from previous renters under couch’s Dead mouse smell in downstairs closet Foos ball table missing pieces and ball and just broken in general No ping pong paddles, they are all broken and old like they’ve never been replaced Missing window screens on windows in upstairs bedrooms No one cleaned the oven and it was burning things off and super smokey when we used it No smoke alarms which we noticed were either dead or missing after oven issues Master bedroom doesn’t have a fan remote A tv armoire without a tv Outlet in the master bedroom did not work Glider outside is broken A hole in the wall where bats came in. We had a bat this year and last. My brother in law found the hole the last night before we left. I submitted a list to Martha and said I would give her time before I wrote a bad review. I wanted her to fix these things so I could feel confident booking for 2023. It’s been a month and a half. My family will be sad to find somewhere else. It seems like they have too many properties to get back to an unhappy client. I can’t trust booking with them again. Update 3/15/23: I’ve been told everything was fixed, I’m going to give it one more shot after the years we have been as it has always been a good time for the whole family.

Update: Bird Song

This is a nice and cozy, one bedroom cabin.

Also has a BBQ...

RENTERS BEWARE!!!! April 19 we reserved Boulder cabin when we arrived. Everything looked great towards the evening as I went into the master suite to get ready for bed. I noticed a stink bug on the floor then I noticed three more. At which point my daughter screamed mom there’s a spider on the bed, this was a pretty big spider, but we were able to kill it. Thank goodness, she noticed it because it was going towards my blanket and my clothing and right where I was gonna lay. 4 more spiders, The biggest spider we saw was when I went to grab a pillow from the master bedroom, and I lifted up the comforter, and there was a huge spider probably at least an inch big sitting on the pillow underneath the comforter. Like it was his bed. Disgusting. At which point we Realize that this room was infested with spiders and bugs. It had definitely not had been dusted anytime recently, as there was a huge spiderweb right above the master bed and every corner of that room, including the corners of the roof. There was no way we were going to be able to sleep there with our two 5-year-old twins. After calling Martha and letting her know, she tried to minimize it saying oh it’s just a few spiders. Asked her I tried to explain the severity of the amount of spiders and bugs that we had found and that we could’ve been bitten. I asked is there anyway that we can be moved to a different cabin. She then called me and screaming at me and telling me what an inconvenience and she would not be able to help me because she was taking care of of her 80-year-old mother and I just come back from San Diego at which point she screamed at me and said I will give you a full refund over and over. Saturday we had to pack up all our belongings again. We had to clean the home before we left so she couldn’t charge us any fees. Isn’t that ironic we had to clean but clearly housekeeping did not. After checking out on Sunday, I messaged Martha and ask when should I expect my full refund $671 at which point she messaged back and stated that she never said that. She then left me a voicemail that contradicted her first story. Now saying I’m only able to give you a partial refund $300 because I have to pay the owner of the Cabin. to which I asked why did you offer me a full refund then if you knew you had to pay the cabin owner to which again lied and denied ever saying that. She began yelling and screaming at me telling me she doesn’t have time for this and to take it up with the credit card company. All we wanted was what we paid for which was advertised as a three bedroom two bath cabin that had been professionally cleaned before we arrive. We completely understand that we are in the mountains and of course you’re going to find a spider here and there which is not a big deal. But giving us a home where the master suite is infested with spiders is completely unacceptable. It’s Clear that this management company does not go in the cabins to verify the cleaning team is doing what they are supposed to. Martha could literally care less. She’s only happy if she gets your money. After that she could care less about you. Her customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. She’s uncapable of communicating without screaming and losing her temper. It’s clear that she has a lot on her plate trying to run a business and take care of her eighty year-old mother. She’s clearly overwhelmed, and unfortunately, it shows in the properties. We will never ever stay in her cabins again. If you have a spider phobia, I would not recommend it staying at any of her cabins because you will be in for a very...

We have stayed many times in several different cabins hosted by Idyllwild Vacation cabins. The staff are very responsive and their properties are all very nice. In particular, on a recent trip, there was a small problem with a power outage, and the staff were able to just switch us at last minute to a different cabin partway through our stay, which they didn't really have to, but was great! Its always nice to know that the cabins we've rented are always clean and nicely setup when we arrive, and these hosts make the check in and check out procedures basically as easy as they could be. Its also nice that their prices are reasonable, and always a better deal than other rental websites that charge extra booking fees etc.

Specifically a review about the "starlight seclusion" cabin: Starlight seclusion is exactly as its name would suggest; a lovely very private secluded area, way up in the beautiful pines in the "pine cove" neighborhood. This cabin was perfect for a couple of two. There is one bedroom with a super comfy bed, a nice bathroom with a lovely slate and granite flooring and shower, and.a cozy living room that is open to a small dining area and kitchen. The high ceilings and lots of windows gives this place a nice airy feel, while still feeling like a cozy mountain cabin. There is also an upstairs loft that would be great for kids, so this cabin would also work fine for a family of 4 (and for the more adventurous, there was also a second loft area above the kitchen that someone could sleep in). Although there is no internet provided, we actually found that we were getting fantastic cell phone coverage. The hot tub was also a really nice bonus and the deck is a fantastic place to kick back. All in all, we loved this cabin and will likely book again.

Specifically a review about the "knotty pine" cabin: Knotty pine is a really great cabin! Talk about location, location, location! When this place lists as "walk to town", they really mean it, as its literally an easy 5-8 min walk to the center of town, even at a leisurely pace. At the same time, its still peaceful and quiet in a lovely part of town. The cabin itself has two bedrooms and a full bath upstairs, a large living room, dining room and kitchen on the main floor, and a bonus game room (with a pullout couch for extra sleeping area) down a half floor from the living room. There's a second powder room off the kitchen for extra convenience. The property is on a fairly large relatively level lot, with tons of large beautiful trees, including a giant oak! There is a large deck out back for entertaining, with lots of seating, a grill, and a little gas fire-pit, complete with sticks for roasting marshmallows. The pride the owners have for this property is obvious from all the nice little touches provided. I highly recommend this cabin for a family, but would actually work for a larger group too since its quite a large space with many...
