I wanted to love this place, but I had a negative experience when making a simple request. I asked if I could have one egg added to my lox bagel sandwich, and I was told that they could only add a "side" of scrambled eggs, which included 2 eggs, for $4. I told them that was too many eggs, I just wanted an egg added to the sandwich, and the cashier was not able to process that. They could have just said, "No, we don't offer that as an option", but this tall guy from the back then joined in, and when asked about the request he said "Two eggs for $4" and that is what I got and was charged. I should have just said not thank you. What was so frustrating is that I did not feel heard as a customer, especially for such a simple request. Yes or no. But why offer me something I did not ask for? $43 later for two decent but not great bagel sandwiches and a coffee--the customer service experience should be higher. I'll go to my old stand-by The Red Kettle next time--the servers know how to...
Read moreThis review is long overdue, but I couldn’t wait any longer while I sit here eating a hot pastrami sandwich that has transported me back to the best east coast delis. As a Jew from Philly/NYC, I often can feel homesick for my favorite dishes living in the wilderness of Southern California. But Raven Hill is my respite. Sadly, I cannot eat their legendary bagels due to an allergy, but owner Kristi, Travis and their team have gone out of their way to accommodate my cravings with gluten free bagels and many other options. There’s a never-ending labor of love and inspiration churning behind the scenes, and you can feel it when you walk through the doors. Plus, they now have a full menu, gourmet market and grab & go case of amazing snacks and picnicky items. Lest I forget to mention, they have the BEST COFFEE ON THE HILL. Don’t...
Read moreUPDATE: be aware there charge additional $1 if you want to change regular cheese to vegan cheese, which btw was not a case before when I ordered a Veggie bagel. The guy told me, it’s the same price since it’s not adds on but the cheese is already included there (which makes total sense). While right this moment, a woman told me “it was always this way” and tried to point it in the menu, but there’s no such thing in the menu like adds on $1 vegan cheese. So she lied. Twice. Very unpleasant experience.
When you in Idyllwild, you MUST visit Raven Hill Bagels! I’ve got Veggie Bagel (rosemary one) with vegan cream cheese, and it was amazing! Fresh, crispy, nutritious & delicious! They have many other options, different bagels, and different sandwiches. Great selection of groceries as well!...
