I booked a 2 night stay at the Silver Pines Lodge. My friend and I were assigned to "comfort cabin" # 3 aka "Pioneer Cabin". We arrived after work on Friday about 8:30pm, the keys were available to pick up by the office which closes at 7 pm. We entered the cabin and noticed a musty smell and that the fridge wasn't working. We had brought food, wine and snacks to share that needed to be refrigerated. We tried to turn on the lights and use the outlets and discovered that most didn't work. We toured the cabin and were disappointed right away. No fridge, the place had a musty smell, the outlets didn't work and the place is very runned down. We had no one to contact and decided to stay since we had booked a non-refundable stay.||The next morning I emailed SPL to report the issues. Management sent and email back explaining they'd send someone to resolve the outages and offered to waive the cleaning fee. The person they sent was very nice and he even offered to extend a 20% off the next time we stayed at the SPL. We were happy that he tripped the breaker which restored the electricity to the fridge and to the outlets. My food was already spoiled so there was no helping that. He left and we showered and got ready for exploring the town. ||I had to take pictures of #3. I cannot believe this place charges a cleaning fee. This place is gross, runned down and has no business being rented out to anyone. The shower curtain is full of mold, the layers of filth around the corners on the floor, thermostat, door frames are truly disgusting. The carpet is gross and the bedding is musty smelling. ||I sent a follow up email to the SPL staff and I will update my review if I...
Read moreWe enjoyed our 2-night stay at the Silver Pines Lodge, though it was less than perfect on a few points. We were in the Black Oak Cabin, #19. First, I want to be clear, this is a cabin, and I'm rating this stay based on the expectations that one might reasonably have for a cabin. If you're used to staying at the Ritz, you will find this less satisfying, but this is a (and should be) a different lodging experience. The room was clean and cozy, in a rustic sense. Ours was one of the few cabins that doesn't share a wall with other cabins, so that may affect your experience. I wouldn't describe the bed or the futon that passed as a couch as particularly comfortable, but again, it's a cabin. They were functional. Bonus marks for it being a king bed. Also bonus marks for having dishes and silverware for us to use, but I did miss having a kitchen, like some other cabin properties in town have. There were a couple minor issues with the room that I shared with the staff, that I don't feel warrant detailing here, but that did affect the overall rating. Our cabin was in the "Silver Pines Village" section of the property, just west on Cedar Street from the main lodge. There is a lovely artificial stream that runs through the courtyard, and other enjoyable amenities. The property is quite conveniently located, a few steps from the shops and restaurants in town. The price was right, the staff were friendly, and the amenities were fine. It wasn't perfect, even for a cabin experience, but I would definitely...
Read moreThe staff was nice but the owner was not professional and would not communicate.
This was our first trip to Idyllwild and we brought our family to stay at Rachel's Cottage. The house was perfect for our stay with large rooms, a beautiful kitchen and three separate bathrooms. On the negative side, the bathroom shower near the laundry room was unusable. We reported to the staff that the shower drain was backing up onto the floor. The staff was supposed to send someone over to fix it and no one ever came The counter microwave did not function properly. The oven in the stove didn't work. The front panel to turn it on and set the temperature was unresponsive.
For the rates we were charged, we didn't expect to have these issues, but we dealt with them because we loved the area.
The final insult, was that we were charged an extra $60 in our bill. We were told by the staff that we broke the coffee maker. WE DIDN'T EVEN USE THE COFFEE MAKER! I brought a large box of Keurig pods (that's all I use at home) and all we used was the Keurig machine. We explained this to the staff to which they replied that the owner would call us. THEY NEVER CALLED and we received a $60 charge on our credit card. This is unethical and unprofessional behavior.
Beware when renting from...
