Neiman's Family Market Clarkston — Local services in Independence Charter Township

I shop at Neiman’s occasionally as it’s not in my neighborhood. It’s a Spartan-Nash affiliate so most of the meat and staple goods are provided by them. Unfortunately for Neiman’s, it helps in comparing pricing as their advertising flyer is included in a weekly direct mailing along with several other supermarkets supplied by Spartan-Nash. They rarely win on price, but the shopping experience is generally superior, and they offer amenities and services that few of the others do.

I really like the plastic shopping carts, and upon entering the store, I’m reminded of D&W foods on the west side of the Michigan, a local upscale market. The produce department is great, everything is well displayed and of high quality. Beer, wine and liquor are displayed in both abundance and variety. An excellent meat, deli, bakery and a “healthy foods” section all allow Neiman’s to show off. The center of the store is pretty much as you would expect, staple goods, frozen foods, dairy and mass-market breads, of which the selection is to me, limited.

You have your choice of cashier or self-checkout, and there is a cafe available, hours from 6 am-3pm, per their website. I shop in the afternoon, so I’ve never been there when it’s open…

Store is right next door to my gym, usually just go here to grab some few things especially water and nothing more, the cafe is cool, nice chill spot the employees are super nice but the food, you have to watch out for. A lot of their food is expired and so far , every time I grab something like bread or even creamer, I get home and the creamer is chalky and middle of the bread is molded. I went back and notice in the bread section especially the low carb bread, all are blue and black one time.
