Pingston Electric — Local services in Indian Harbour Beach

Consumer beware....this company is extremely, bordering on dishonestly, expensive. As a lifelong construction professional, I understand the high risks involved with trade work, and it is only fair that companies undertaking that risk price their work to earn a fair profit. That said, there is a line at which fair pricing turns to unfair pricing, and eventually to price gouging.

While I cannot comment on anyone's experience other than my own, I will say that today Pingston tried to rip me off in a way that upset me enough to write this review, which is something I never do. To lend credibility to this review, please consider that I've been in commercial construction for 21 years and I'm experienced at evaluating and estimating work, and how to properly charge for that work. In this case, I was simply seeking a local "service" firm to handle minor residential renovation work for me so that I could avoid clouding my professional relationships with a personal request.

Ultimately, Pingston chooses to charge an $89 "diagnostic" fee for one reason and one reason only....because their pricing must so frequently miss the mark that it becomes a primary (and necessary) cashflow source. That says a lot, and I urge anyone reading this review to do themselves a favor and seek out alternate quotes before...

If a company is going to charge an $89.00 “Diagnostic” Fee when calling to get an estimate, that should be disclosed upon scheduling an appointment with the office, not after the site visit. Called the office twice, once to reschedule, and the $89 fee was never mentioned. Very unprofessional both in the fee that was slipped in at the end and also the lame estimate that was given same day; scope of work not detailed. Did get a couple of other estimates from licensed and insured companies and their estimates were “free”, professionally presented and the price blew their estimate out of the park by $$$$ thousands! Called the office to inquire: a. why the fee wasn’t disclosed when scheduling the estimate and b. why the lack of a detailed scope of work. I was told it would be “looked into on Monday” since we called the next day (Saturday) and the paperwork wouldn’t be in the office until then. Never received a call back but they had no issue cashing the check. Word of advice: ask if there is a “diagnostic fee” before scheduling an estimate and get at least three estimates. Have...

I am so thankful for the service I receive from Brian at Pingston electric. I had others come out and give me horrendous quotes and try to upsell me everything. Brian was very logical as he went through electrical in my home as we were having a major issue. First thing he told me was to call Florida power and light because of all the flickering power in my house. FPL came out in the terrible storm rain and replace my entire wire from the pole to my home.. They found a neutral wire was out. Causing the flickering. My home is old and needs to have the electrical box replaced and some wires from the electric outside to inside. Brian was very kind and explained everything to me and gave me a price that was livable. While others try to rip you off Kingston electric will work with you and do what’s right for you.
