Sadly, January 21 was my last visit to this theater. My family and I frequented this establishment over the years, especially when the Monroe theater closed. We loved the location and the loyalty rewards. My Instagram account is filled with pics of my kids in front of the theater on several family outings.
I work 60 hours a week. My daughter wanted to have a girl's night out. It was opening weekend for the movie we chose. By the time we used the restrooms and got concessions, the theater was packed. Yes, we could have gotten there half an hour early to get seats. However, my tight work schedule didn't allow for this as I came straight from work and my husband had to drop her off at the theater.
My complaint with the theater is that there was a staff member inside the theater along with security. Multiple couples came in after us. All of us are walking up and down the aisles to find seats together. The staff nor security made any attempt to help us locate seats. Nor did they say anything to the people holding multiple seats at a time (and there was a lot of this going on.)
Needless to say, my daughter and I had to sit on different aisles as none of the other patrons were willing to scoot down a seat so we could sit together. What we hoped to be a fun night out and quality time together ended up being a disappointment. You can't rely on people being decent these days anymore than you can count on good customer service.
It is apparent this theater, once the go to place in the area due to its location, now seems terribly outdated. My family and friends will now be taking our business to newer theaters with reclining seats you can reserve in advance. Had Stone Theaters had this option, we could have guaranteed we'd be sharing that large...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor being short staffed I think sun valley is handling things really well. The concession line IS long d/t shortages so if you're planning to see a movie and want concessions I would suggest arriving a minimum of 20 or so minutes early. It's not within their control, they are clearly doing their best.
Theatres were clean (I took kids to a movie then later went out for another with kids dad because it was NMD and only 3 bucks a ticket). They had UCSO on site in case of any issues, and UCSO went above and beyond in trying to help with cleaning up rude people's messes, crowd control (evening was very very busy last night), etc. The UCSO deputy that was there was very professional yet personable.
We were directed to the section our movies were playing, positive attitudes, management presence was known (she even helped with ticket sales because of being short staffed, helped at concessions, etc).
I dont often go to the movies, but the theatre was clean and organized so we will return should we decide to go see another movie.
I also like the location because there is PLENTY to choose from should you want to go out to eat before or after. Mexican, Chinese, pizza, deli, appetizer type food, viva chicken, and then some. Pricing varies from inexpensive to more expensive (I was checking prices/menus online). There is also a sweet frog if you're looking for dessert. There were at least 3 bar/restaurants and they all offered different items so it wasn't the same menu with different pricing. One of the bars had gaming (Foosball and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the worst theatres I have ever been to. First of all when I watched the minecraft movie with my friends a bunch of teens who were all about 16-17 in suits filled the entire back row of the theatre at 7:45 (there was about 18 kids in suits). During the entire movie they were screaming and yelling at the memes which I get. What I dont get is why security didnt start kicking them out when they started pelting people with popcorn including literal 6 year old toddlers. They even had a designated guy to keep getting more popcorn for them to throw (T.J.). I can understand the pelting since its just popcorn HOWEVER they started throwing ranch cups and a big bucket at people. This is absolutley unnacepptable because that can really hurt someone especially a toddler who is like 6 (which over half the theatre consisted of). It took security over half the movie (when the chicken jockey scene happened) to kick them all out. I gotta say good job on them for kicking them out because the rest of the movie was peaceful after that. I think the most disgusting part is when they started to pretend (play with themself) to anytime Jennifer Cooliage was on screen for the movie and making moaning noises. What happened to having some common decency especially when there are toddlers present. Overall the whole movie experience was horrible until security kicked all 18 of the kids out. Next time I think security needs to act a little quicker especially if the movie is filled...
