This will be detailed review but in summary, ugh. So disappointed and just seemed like they didn't care.
Just moved here so checking out a new restaurant each day. Saw this place had tapas so definitely wanted to try it. It was definitely not busy with just one other table seated because it was around lunch time.
The decor/furniture looked nice at first glance but you see how dirty they are. Granted it would be difficult to keep fabric clean at a restaurant but is a necessity if you praise yourself on "best interior".
Menu had a note on the bottom that if "GS" was on the item it was "gluten sensitive" but it wasn't anywhere on the menu, so it wasn't very helpful.
Our server was polite but just seemed to not care. Didn't write down our order so left off one of the plates. They had to bring it to me at the end of the meal. My partner informed him that I couldn't have gluten. On the ceviche it is listed with tortilla chips. He brought out pita chips instead. I told him again that I couldn't have that and if I could please have the tortilla chips that were mentioned on the menu. He just walked off, not rude or mean, but didn't say anything. A couple minutes went by and I still didn't have them and wasn't sure what was going on. I asked him when he came with another dish for my partner and he said "oh well they have to cook them." That is cool but it would be nice to know. The server also worked as the bartender and was making the drinks. My moscow mule was just not very good. Not a lot of flavor, tasted a lot like water or club soda with a splash of vodka on top. It wasn't mixed. I am a super lightweight but didn't feel anything after drinking the whole thing. I also saw him make someone a to-go drink from a bottle behind the bar. It was definitely some alcohol in a styrofoam cup. Looks like someone that he knew but it was just weird.
The food was just meh. Got ceviche, arancini, philly egg roll, chicken lettuce wrap, bruschetta, and Cesar salad. The ceviche had four small pieces of fish. Ceviche - Bone was in one of the pieces, ok not a big deal, but it was just a bunch of tomato and onions. That's it. Like as a pico de gallo it would be good but not for 10 dollars. Arancini - Partner said it was great but it was suppose to include prosciutto on it and did not so it was missing something it needed. Server removed it from the ticket without us even asking so that is nice. Philly egg roll - it was really good! It was two smaller ones instead of a large one, which is shown online, but still very tasty. Bruschetta - my partner said it was good as well. The bread was good and the bruschetta mix tasted good but was really watery so it made the bread mushy. But it was also missing the parmesan cheese, the bread was not grilled, and a lot smaller than the picture online. Cesar salad - Partner said it was fine. The anchovies were a bit much but a good salad. Chicken lettuce wrap - sorry for the harsh words, but disgusting. I literally could make this and I am not a great cook. It was just ground chicken with some onions. It was not good and so disappointing. This is the dish the server forgot to ring in so he took it off the bill without asking as well.
We will not be back. The price for the food was not good AND the food wasn't good. It just seems like they don't care. And I don't want to spend my hard-earned money in this economy somewhere...
Read moreThis restaurant has gone above and beyond to be amazing, consistent, and wonderful. We have a small community here in Sun valley. They are definitely a “pillar” restaurant in our area. I am pregnant, high risk. It’s been very difficult. In addition we lost both our vehicles for 4 months of my pregnancy. I started to have serious issues with nutrition. Mostly iron/protein. A situation where the quality of the food you’re eating matters. Especially the temperature of your meat!
I started ordering on door dash, taking advantage of happy hour discounts whenever I could. And the cost of the food was very similar to ordering delivery from the grocery store and cooking it myself. Because of my condition I started making notes explaining I needed temp Correct food. They were so kind and careful to make sure everything in my order was safe for me to eat!!!
I realized a month or so in, the workers did not receive any of the tip benefits, so I found a way to call and leave tips on my card whenever I had the finances to do so. This means despite not being paid as you would dining in, or tipped to take the extra care accommodating with my special request. They always made sure to take care of me!
I’ve been ordering 1-2 times a week on average the last 4-5 months. If they did run out of my usual order they always made appropriate substitutions. (Very rare)
It seems silly how such a small thing can be such a big deal. My health has improved substantially, and being smart about when I order has kept costs reasonable. Everyone was planning on a NICU birth. But here i am, almost 41 weeks!!!! Thank you tap & vine for keeping me well fed and healthy for such an important situation!
Regardless of my personal situation, what makes this Tap & Vine location so special are these things. *The staff- 100% amazing. Props to the kitchen, chef, host, manager, and servers!!! *The consistency & quality of food quality and preparation. No one is perfect but the frequency of my orders proves they prioritize consistency to the best of their ability. *flavor - confident that the kitchen is trained top notch in maintaining freshness. *cost. - you will always pay for premium food in fine dining. The cost at this establishment is definitely fair and affordable for the occasional splurge on a tight budget.
Even though I haven’t been able to dine in recently(bed rest) I have dined inside and on the patio. Despite the small space it’s very pleasant and comfortable. The seating is borderline luxury!!! And they have marvelous live events. I can usually hear their music from my house in the evening when there’s low traffic! But it isn’t obnoxious, it’s just the way sound flows through the valley.
My go to meals: Filet medallions. 100% Bruschetta Crab cakes Seasonal veggies Love their crème brûlée, cheesecake, tarts $ chocolate lava cake! The boys enjoy everything on the kids menu, especially the...
Read moreI had been trying to get this place for a while with my wife but always seem to wind up downtown charlotte somewhere in stead but this time I wanted to stay closer to home. Since it was our 25th wedding anniversary, I put more effort into getting there,it looked like a really cool spot(and it is) However, this night went sideways, not hideous but lacking in major areas for me. I made reservations on open table detailing what was going on this night(anniversay)and my suggestions for seating. The place being the holidays was beautifully decorated and well attended yet the greeting we received, the anniversary was not mentioned once, not for me but my wife eats up the little things.(X) All of the intimate spots were all on the patio(I requested a table online) where really no one was but they had lamp heaters so we chose to eat out there since it was enclosed...this could have beena pleasant suprise. The lamps weren't even on yet so it was COLD out there.(6:30 in the evening by the way, still fairly early) (XX) We were seated by a nice young lady who still seemed a bit absent about MY BIG NIGHT!(we were even carrying gift bags..lol) (XXX) After the lamps warmed up the area, things began to feel better and we got settled in. My wife was happy all things considered so far...THEN!..and I hate I deliberately forgot there names our little hostess came out and told us she forgot they had a bigger group coming and would we mind moving one table back,my wife looked a bit annoyed now and the table they moved us to was in a cold spot, with the one closes lamp nearby was closer to the table we had just left..lol,omg!!and they never made adjustments (XXXX) Sure we said. What bugs are out walking on tables in the cold in November outside?!..YES a damn bug.. and HE was laughing at me as I sat down and pointed this out to the waitress, who never even tried to wipe it down but at least HE did say Happy Anniversary as he walked across the table! At this point,I really wanted to just leave, but my happy wife...and this place,I wanted to see it through, and we did. Our first drink came out, which was ok but not good for a hot totie...the waitress now was nice but overly "not helpful"...I really hate I blocked out the names from my brain because for my standards and what I expected,I was done and disconnected. I'll just say this, the atmosphere is neighborhood bar..ish,the drinks were Soso, the house wine needs revisiting and the food was mediocre and the wait staff seems to want to be more than they are;experience wise. I won't go back unless my wife wants to, and even if we were to see a movie at the theatre which is across the drive,we'll probably still go somewhere else afterwards for a nice drink and more...
