ALDI — Local services in Indianapolis

Aldi's says they put a premium on customer service and satisfaction. I would dispute this. They do have good food values but they do not seem to be concerned when there are a number of customers in the checkout line (and I do mean singular even tho they have at least four or more checkout stands).

The other staff often ignore the people cued up in checkout line in favor of cleaning or restocking the shelves instead of immediately prepping a second cash register to go into operation. I have observed them walking past the waiting line and even stacking bottled water a few feet from five or six waiting customers.

When they do decide to open another checkout lane they tell some shoppers to switch to that lane and those people have to wait until another clerk arrives, opens and counts his/her money before serving the first customer which can take another five minutes before beginning. No one seems to be in a hurry to serve customers quickly.

I have observed this in several Aldi's so it is not just one inept manager's policy. It is apparently a regional or company wide method of operation. What a difference from former sister company Trader Joe's customer friendly US stores.

A personal irritation was blocking the first aisle, forcing one to go all the way to the back of the store before gaining access to the other aisles. Previously you only had to go halfway down the first aisle before you could turn and get to the other aisles. This is similar to other groceries trying to entice you to the rear of the store by putting certain popular items in places that require you to walk past a lot of other items in hopes of impulse sales of things you might not have had on your shopping list. I wonder if they calculate the lost sales when shoppers go elsewhere when in a hurry or wanting only...

The cashier, a male, didn't greet or welcome me. Just told me the price. Didn't thank me. Just walked away after sale was complete. It was terrible customer service.

2/11/2021 once again I received terrible service at this store, this time from Mary. She totally ignored me. I better her and she didn't respond. No thank you! Nothing. Yet she started talking to the customer behind me before finishing my transaction. There is definitely discrimination going at this store. She was totally unprofessional and definately needs to be retrained that ALL customers are important.

The service has gotten better. At least they thank you most times. They are still not overly friendly, but there has been a little improvement.

Their service has gotten better the last two times shipped there. There is hope for this store now.

Well, back to discrimination by a cashier named Cynthia here. She greeted and talked to the lady in front of me and the man behind me, but all I got was, "here's you receipt." No greeting, no thank you, just lousy discriminating service. It was better, but now it's taken a u turn. Hope they get their act together and starting each and every customer with the same courtesy and respect, but probably just wishful thinking. 👎👎

This ALDI is amazing. They are nearly constantly short staffed and still BOMB at stocking, helping ppl, getting everyone checked out, just everything. They never are rude and never complain. They are always very kind. Some of the customers are really difficult and they all handle them like pros even at the most short staffed highly busy, max stress check out times when they all need a break for their own food, etc. I personally do not think they are paid enough, tho aldis pays very well. . . This location is packed. It is the only aldi that consistently keeps up its alternative foods for people with serious allergies to regular foods... example: chickpea pasta mac n cheese, goat cheese, coconut milk, etc. They always have high end herbs, and produce. I very RARELY see bad fruit... unless the fruit NATURALLY has an extremely fast rot time, even then it is taken care of very fast (it requires customers to help too, I think, to bring attention to things workers cannot and will not always notice... no matter how well the store is taken care of.) This aldi constantly offers stylish and seasonal home goods, and very delicious foods and high end ingredients. Prices are bomb. I wish they kept more vanilla blueberry goat cheese on hand tho! 💜 It...
