First let me preface this with a message to the Owner or General Manager of this location. I know how important reviews are and I am willing to change mine however I want to leave this here to make you aware of this situation going on. Please go back on the stated date and review who was clocked in and have whatever conversation you need to have. Feel free to respond and acknowledge you've taken corrective measures and I'll change my rating. I understand this is probably because of the lack of management being in the store and this in no way reflects this location as a whole.
THIS LOCATION CLOSES AT 10!! Walked in at 9:05pm on Wednesday April 18th. I was Immediately greeted by Caleb with the following "Hi welcome to Penn Station, just so you know all order are TO-GO because the lobby closes at 9pm." I was kind of caught of guard so I just said "Okay" I order my food and I start thinking about what he said. I look on the door, nothing about lobby closing at 9. I look online, nothing about lobby closing at 9. I look at the people working and it doesn't appear there is a worker in there over the age of 20-21 with most of them being around 16-19 years old. I realized that without there being a manager(or at least a responsible one) working they were forcing people to leave so they could close early. I decided when I get my food I'm just going to sit down and eat because I had quite a drive home and my food would of been cold. As I am sitting I was asked by a younger girl to move tables because "the lobby closes at 9:30 pm" and she was trying to clean the back half of the store. After I move for some reason she feels she needs to clarify something so she comes back to my table to say "I wasn't saying the lobby closes or you couldn't eat in here or anything, it's just that the back part of the lobby closes at 9:30" However as people are coming in to order Caleb is contradicting what she just told me. Every time someone came in he yells "Welcome to Penn Station, all orders are to-go because the lobby closed at 9" Some people left. However out of the 7 or so people waiting for their food they were informed "just so everyone knows we only have one order of fries left so you can get a bag of chips or get your money back" Oh I almost forgot to mention, the drink machine is right at the entrance to the back half of the lobby that "closes at 9:30pm" and low and behold the lights in that half of the restaurant were off at 9:30. You were to be expected to get your drink basically in the dark?
WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THIS!?!?! Don't get be wrong, I've worked food service to numerous years!! There is a right and wrong way to pre-close. There are things that are okay to do for pre-close and not okay to do. Lying to customers and making up a time the lobby closes is not okay. Turning the lights off in half of the lobby is not okay. Dumping the tea with half an hour to go is not okay.
People are (for the most part) understanding and have compassion but maybe instead of blatantly lying to people say something along the lines of "Hey just so you guys know we do close at 10 so I'm just going to be doing some pre-closing around you but honestly don't feel rushed because like I said we close at 10. I don't want you to think I'm rushing you out." Trust me they will understand.
When you go about it the way you did only causes people to leave with a terrible experience and trust me people are more likely to let people know about bad experiences than people that have an...
Read moreTwo of are orders was made correctly but one was not made correctly. One of my people I was eating with took it up for my other person I was eating with that had said they recieved their sandwich made incorrectly. My acquaintance let them know it was and wanted to have them change it out make a new one. It seemed to arise into a dispute between my acquaintance and a few of the male worker's wanting to argue over what way the sandwich was ordered. No matter whether this was a miss hearing or communication issue the associate's should not have disputed who was right or wrong or how the sandwich was supposed to be made. What they should have done is respected the request, apologized and said they would remake the sandwich no question's asked about the previous sandwich. Instead of trying to start a argument with a costumer which should always be right dropped the detail's and remade the new sandwich. I just honestly find it really disappointing and rude how the altercation went down and feel I will distance myself from this location and not go to other location's of this chain as much in the future. Which I find sad because there are some really nice location's with helpful nice associate's but I don't wanna put myself in situation's...
Read more(UPDATE 2: I was contacted by someone from the company again, who reports that although there can be supply chain issues at times outside the control of the restaurant, that the issue is currently resolved, and more work will go into preventing this issue from occurring again). (UPDATE: I was contacted by someone from the company who will be looking into the issue.) TO PEOPLE TRYING TO SAVE MONEY. Food was good, but this location has been having an issue with keeping Regular Cups in stock, and make the customer purchase Large ones. I ask if they can charge me for a Regular since they show Regular Cups on the menu, and it's on them that they didn't keep Regular in stock; they always say "no". The cost of pop for them between a Regular and Large is miniscule, and it has been MONTHS between that first visit and the second, where they still have not kept adequate stock of Regular Cups. I will not be returning to this location. I try to think if a group of 4 people went in to eat and all were forced to buy larger sizes, how much extra money was taken by the restaurant, for something the customers did not want, for something the restaurant advertises but...
