General Rental Center — Local services in Ingram

Drove from Indianapolis to help with flood damage from the Guadalupe flooding. Came down prepared and ready to work with all my machinery. I called up to General Rental to get one extra mini excavator. I did a one day rental for $400. When I got back to the homeowners property to start in on my last cleanup 2 different hydraulic fittings blew. After I got those replaced at a local fitter I went back to work only for a hose that hadn’t been tightened on the last service to blow. I had the machine for 6 hours and spent 4 1/2 hours tracking down parts for it. If you’re a rental company that’s going to charge that high on a one day rental, the least they could do is go over the machines before they send them out. Kerr County is overturned right now and when volunteers show up to help local shops don’t bat an eye to coming together as a community. No apology was given, no transparency about their fault, and poor customer service. I’m always for going with the small town family shop, and this one was a bad apple...

I really like this place. As far as kerr County is concerned, you wont find better rentals on equipment. You spend a little more, but you get security with your payment. No guarantees, but from someone who's rented from everyone, these guys have the most well kept and up to date equipment. They must treat the staff decent as well because everyone is polite and helpful. I wouldn't even call any of their yard hands bad names. These guys have a good system put together. So the extra on the rental is well worth know it's going to preform when you drive off with what you ordered. Some of these other places double book or give your stuff to a preferred customer and then charge you full price for something you have to settle on. Other places are slack on maintenance and check ups. Even just charging the batter. I've literally been stuck in the air renting from five star. I can't say that with...
