For quite some time I have read the Citrus County Florida Chronicle. In many cases I have enjoyed it and appreciated the information within.
However, every time I have observed and reported an error in the paper no matter the topic or section, I never receive a reply or even a thank you for pointing it out. In most cases the error is never corrected. So much for quality and accuracy, or even a thank you.
In the last week (09.14 - 21.25) I contacted the Editor Jim Gouvellis regarding issues with the sports department not replying to emails and not correcting my observations within the "On the Airwaves" section. He seemed concerned at the time, wanted to know when I sent the emails and to whom. He would look into it and take care of it. He even provided me with his cell number to call so we could discuss this. Well, I called him twice, left a message both times and of course NO return calls and no future replies to emails sent to him after the calls, just like the sports department. And of course the errors still exist to this day.
It must be the culture at the Chronicle. They could care less about their readers and even less about accuracy of the information they print.
Is the Publisher Trina Murphy aware of this, does she...
Read moreOrdered a monthly subscription online early and the paper didn't show up the next day so I called the office and was told they just got the order that morning. Ok. So I inquired about a tube for the paper was told there is a $15.00 charge for the tube and when I balked about the price she said "after you pay the $15 for the tube, you own it and you can do whatever you want with it." Now, what am I going to do with a newspaper tube if I decide I don't want their paper? Planter? Food storage bin? Bird feeder? Or maybe I'll pass it onto my children in my will. If you think I'm going to allow you to put up a tube with your name plastered on the side of it, where you get FREE advertising by every car that drives by my home and PAY you for the privilege, you are mistaken, so I immediately cancelled my subscription. With the decline in newspaper sales and the closing of many print publications you would think a newspaper wouldn't cut off its nose to...
