Artistic Evolution Tattoos — Local services in Irvington

Let me start out by saying I got this tattoo at a convention a year ago and knew the risk I was running getting tattooed by an artist who’s work I wasn’t exactly familiar with. A friend and I went through the 3 fat binders of stencils they had (which I thought was fishy that all the designs were of different styles and none had their own watermarks on it to prove they were their own artwork, but again, my fault for ignoring that) and I found a stencil of flowers I really liked. I had been wanting to get started on a sleeve and really loved the design, so I put down a deposit with them to have it placed on my bicep. My time was at 3pm that we started and we did not finish until the convention was literally ending at 9pm. I have plenty of other large scale tattoos that have never taken nearly that long. Now yes, it does depend on the artist, but this was due to my artist taking about 10 different breaks. He did not seem focused at all and was digging very hard into my skin, which caused ink blowouts in certain areas of the tattoo. He also told me midway through the tattoo that he was going to have to adjust the design and improvise some parts because he wasnt able to correctly replicated it…. that was a huge red flag. I will say both artists were very kind and made good conversation, and I’m sure they have done great art on many people but this particular instance was a little alarming. My tattoo hardly look’s anything like the artwork, and is patchy. I will be having it fixed/touched up by another artist in the future because thankfully there’s potential but its definitely disappointing considering the amount i payed for it. Traaaaaassssssshhhhhhh if you value your skin and actually want what you’re paying for don’t go here. My cross is completely gone as you can see. And the “forgiven” looks dusty. I used A&D ointment on it as instructed and this is the result just two weeks after getting them done. Confronted the OWNER of the shop who DID the tattoos and was told that “it’s because of my skin”. Mind you he didn’t even get up from his couch to look at the tattoos and inspect my issues or concerns. I’ve seen people of my complexion with red ink tattoos and it never looked like this. I asked for a refund and was told no. The owner’s resolution was that he can do it over with a thicker needle and darker red. Still not what I asked for.
