I went to this shop on January 2, 2021 to get a short bob with box braids before I flew out the following morning heading back to Arkansas. The owner was extremely professional and polite. She began on my braids promptly and worked quickly. The shop was clean and the atmosphere was very friendly. However, I did NOT get the style I requested because she said she didn’t like it. That short styles was for old ladies. She left my braids longer than I wanted and also burned the ends instead of dipping them, which I’m accustomed to. I hate having burned ends because the braids stick to each other and since they were longer than I wanted, they stuck to my clothes. The very next day, I had already lost a braid and had another braid unraveling. I’m back in Arkansas at this point, so there’s absolutely nothing I can do. In the following weeks, I have continued to lose braids. On two separate occasions while at work I had two different coworkers find my braids on the floor. Very embarrassing. Today, 15 days later after paying $180 for braids, 11 braids slipped right out, this is not including the braids I had already lost!!!! I have have short hair in the back, however, prior to coming to Jacksonville I had long box braids and did not have any issues with braids slipping out! I had those braids in for two months! Now sadly I’m forced to take the remainder of my braids down because the shortest part of my hair that she was unable to braid is now exposed. I work hard for my money and expect quality service. I chose this place because it had a five star rating, but now I think she made those other reviews to improve the rating. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR BRAIDS. I wasted my time...

I made an appointment to see Becky and chose this shop based on the 4.7 review. I also chose this shop because clients spoke of how nice Becky was. My experience was all the way opposite of that.

By mistake I left conditioner in my hair and asked if it could be washed out. I was told it would cost $10. I said oh I will go home and rinse it out and be back. She insisted that I stay and she wouldn’t charge. So I stayed.

Before I continue here is the back story.. I sent Becky 4 pictures of my hair in braids and brought in braids I cut out to show her the size. Therefore, there was no reason to give me anything other than what I asked for. I asked for small knotless braids and I got medium almost large braids.

Becky never offered to show me the style of braids she was braiding because she spent most of her time on the phone. When I brought to her attention the size she went from 0-100. She was irate, yelling and pointing her finger in my face. The other clients and workers in the shop were trying to calm her down but to no avail nothing work. I told her I was not pleased and she cut the braids out of my hair, told me multiple times she wasn’t going to take the braids out and to get out of her shop. It was a horrid site.

I left her shop and came to Lina Hairbraiding on Blanding. It was a blessing in disguise. Cleaner shop, experienced workers and great customer service.

While I am still thankful that Becky could fit me in short notice since I was flying overseas soon and how fast she works, I am disappointed that my hair is still visible through the braids and with the size of the braids.

I told Becky over the phone that I need my hair tucked in the braid because I can’t have the color showing for work (my hair color is currently ruby lavender/my job doesn’t allow crazy hair colors). She said should could do the tuck method and fit me in. When she was braiding, I asked a few times if my hair was showing and she reassured me that you couldn’t see it. When I got home that evening, I saw a few spots of my hair color, but didn’t think it would be that bad. Fast forward to today (Friday 28 Jan) , my first day of working ROM at my new job overseas, I could sense someone looking at me.
