Exceptional care and support. My care team and care plan are streamlined to accommodate the patient who travels to receive care. Totally worth the two plus hours drive and grateful that I got the referral from my local neurologist. Still trying to figure out some new symptoms but I feel they will help me get there. I worked as a surgical tech for many years. These people at Mayo are super efficient and caring professionals. Highly recommend if like me you couldn’t get help with the local specialists and lack of one knowing what the other one diagnosed or results to labs and imaging. I have a care team now and that is in itself amazing and a care plan. My only gripe is I know there are more new tests available to screen for disease. Genetic and cyto or cellular test that have been constantly updated but I wish I could get some of those done to figure out what they would show. I get emails from MCL and there’s so many new tests and after my horrible experience with a certain vaccine that has caused ongoing symptoms almost three years out? Not found much interest in figuring out exactly what that one dose did to me besides the obvious (inflammation, blood clots, severe rash, chest pain, edema in face and legs, joint and muscle pain, etc!). I go in a month so hopefully I make it til then. May have to hit the ER if...
Read moreOf all the hospitals, clinics, and medical waiting rooms that I have visited around the world, this is, without a doubt, the most appealing one. Of course, you would only come here for the quality of care and that is usually at the upper end of expectations. And though beware, they do not suffer fools and I noticed that many of the low ratings seem to be the result of people's own errors or misinformation. The flipside of that is that the doctors too are not late, your appointments are almost always on time. Imagine that!
Nevertheless, If you have to wait for a procedure it's hard to imagine a better space in which to do it. The rooms are sleekly modern and yet warm, airy and yet comforting. There curation of art on the walls is sublime.
Staff are professional, often warm and with a sense of humor. In our case recently, Dr. Ledford started the day off with a big welcoming grin. The warmth and helpfulness continued across at least two nurses Betsy and Jenny and a really good PT team led by Stacy Chupp. These folks read the manual on excellent bedside manner.
As a bonus, The grounds outside feature ample shaded paths around lakes and fountains for soothing strolls. There's even a very nice cafeteria serving a broad array of simple foods and decent...
Read moreMy family and I have had a couple of interactions with the Mayo clinic. From a pure clinical or medical perspective I think Mayo clinic is great so far. However there are a couple of issues that I think you need to be addressed. Primarily the issue of appointment scheduling in the office.
I have tried and fell on a couple of occasions to try to get an appointment via virtual or tell me which I know you have the capability. However some doctors seem to be stuck in their ways. Sometimes they make you come in for an appointment and you're there on time they bring you in on time and you're in and out in 15-20 minutes which is great. It was not so great is if you have to travel a great distance to get there and incur additional costs such as travel costs hotels etc. all for something that could have been easily taken care of the phone call. I get it some issues should be dealt with in person but many of these matters can easily be dealt with phone call or other remote methods. Patience a great deal of cost and stress.
I urge mayo to relook at the processes and see if we can do...
