This place is incredibly unprofessional. I just called and spoke with a gentleman about a lost dog that was turned in on SATURDAY! At 3pm when you guys close. I called and left a voicemail on Saturday 7/13 URGENTLY for someone to call me in regards to the small dog. I called literally 10 minutes ago they told me they adopted the dog out. I AM SO UPSET. They said they had a 5 day claim rule. YOU GUYS ARE NOT EVEN OPEN ON SUNDAY AND MONDAY! And on top of that I NEVER received a call back. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! That is so unfair! Our poor Peanut who has been missing an entire month & we have been missing him. That dog was given to my boyfriends family before his dad passed. And now the guy on the phone told me Peanut has been adopted & will not be coming home to us. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! Thank you Pickens County Shelter for being so incredibly insensitive & rude to me. The 5 day rule was not applied AT ALL! Today is the 5th day I could have come and picked him up! U adopted him out way prior to the 5 day claim rule! How can I pick and animal up if you guys are closed on SUNDAY...
Read moreWhen I walked in, I was completely ignored at the front desk while staff chatted among themselves. After waiting a few minutes, I politely tried to ask a question—and was immediately shut down. One of the staff members actually raised her hand at me mid-sentence and said, “You can speak when I’m done talking.” I was stunned. I wasn’t interrupting a serious conversation—just trying to ask a simple question—and was spoken to like a child.
That kind of attitude is completely unacceptable, especially in a public-facing role. The staff showed no interest in being helpful and made me feel like I was an inconvenience just for showing up.
It’s really disappointing when people working in a community service position act like basic courtesy is too much to ask for. I left feeling disrespected and honestly kind of embarrassed.
If this is how they treat members of the public, I can only imagine how they speak to others when no one is watching. This place seriously needs to reevaluate their staff and how they interact with...
Read moreI've personally reported animal neglect multiple times through them and nothing has been done to this day. I'm not sure why laws exist if they aren't enforced. Apparently a dog being chained up with no food or water in these temperatures is fine in some counties. They went out once and instead of being concerned about actual issues like the dog house having no bottom so it was living in a mud pit when it rains or no proper water container, they want to have an attitude about a treat that was left for the dog because it's unsafe. But animal neglect by the homeowner isn't. It's sad when you can't count on the only people who can actually...
