After using the morning to get my taxes done, I needed a pick me up. Well the dunkin wasnt hitting that wake up, as across from me was a sight to behold that did. The positive energy flowed through me. A retro store! I grabbed my daughter and wife hands to rush across the street. Upon arrival I was amazed. Items I have interest in were right there in front of me. And not badly priced either! I was still in the entrance when my eyes met a boxed SoundWave figure. I held back my pure excitement as this figure I desperately wanted. No longer will I dread seeing many other collectors getting ahold of this in a Ross store, as I finally found it belongs. This didn’t stop there! I then started panning to a boxed Batman/batman beyond toys I had as a kid. To then find myself in a situational amusement at a huge Star Wars collection boxed and beautifully displayed. Where else can you find a rancor statue? A packaged battle droid? Each look was another hole in my wallet. I knew at that moment I found something special. Before this I searched everywhere (mainly target stores) for certain items. One being any scooby doo toys/plush, which shouldn’t be hard right? Nope, it is. So when I saw a scooby doo plush be-hide a glass case I just knew I hit gold. My little one was beyond happy to finally have her own scooby to play with. This made me a proud father to find a gem for her. But all things must come to a end. We headed to the register to wrap up this joyous moment and that’s when my lady had just spotted another figure I couldn’t find. A ghost face figure still boxed. Here I am thinking what are the odds!? This place just doesn’t miss! But sadly I had to pass as I had interest in another. Sound wave! Now I’m not the biggest fan of transformers but this decepticon always had my attention. Picking it up the guy be hide the register let me know it was on sale, which come on can’t be that! Doesn’t stop there too. The very kind man offered also to my little one a free shaggy toy, but sadly she had her heart only set to scobert. Her now favorite companion to watch “A pup name scooby doo” with along with the great many other scooby shows. To now wrap this up. Ultimately I will be here again and again and again for my collector needs. So much so I followed them on Instagram, which Instantly I got a message from that same man be hide the counter. Letting me know he’ll keep an eye out for more scooby doo and soundwave items that hit the shop. Can’t tell you how awesome this all was and how appreciated I am to this store (and that awesome dude). Can’t wait to...
Read moreOverall the store has a nice selection of things neatly placed to browse, my wife and I along with a friend of ours stopped in and I found a couple G.I. joe toys (love that stuff an 80s kid lol). The guy working there was friendly enough but rigid and unwilling to bend a tiny bit on the prices for his incomplete vehicles. After hearing his prices and checking online for a G.I. joe tank and airplane. Both without the pilots (HUGE detractor) and looking at the prices to complete the missing parts on both I asked him to reduce the price on both by just eight dollars (after complaining as we walked through the door he’d had no business in months.) promptly refused snatched them up And placed them back behind the counter. People that own these places really need to understand 30 year old pieces of plastic only have the value people are willing to pay for them. The have no real intrinsic value at all. They’re not a commodity, gold or silver. By refusing an 80 dollar sale over 8 bucks after in nearly the same breath complaining he’s had no business, kind of alludes to why he’s had no business. I buy ALOT of this stuff I am always looking for new places to buy from and this guy blew it big time. He would have made hundreds if not thousands of dollars in repeat business from me. Too bad he had some decent stuff. eBay is your friend folks and an alternative to guys like this I suggest starting there first before going to smash toys. It would have cost me nearly 3 times the amount to complete the toys then what I paid for them and to a real collector that makes no sense. So it will probably be more months before he has any business and his tank and plane will sit on his dusty shelves unsold over eight dollars. I’m not saying never shop there, hence the 2nd star - but I would use smash toys as a last resort before finding someone a bit more reasonable to deal with. Besides for real collectors the hunt sometimes is just as much fun as actually getting the toy! Shop at smash toys at your own discretion, but check prices first since this guy is unwilling to negotiate at all. It was my first and last visit, I won’t be back, but maybe you’ll have better luck with smash toys. I hope this is helpful, happy...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I most definitely would so the lowest I could give this place unfortunately is 1 star which is still more than what they deserve. I've been to this place at least a few times before, but today was my absolute worst visit. Throughout my visit today, I was simply browsing through the store and took some pictures of some toys I was curious about. Suddenly out of nowhere, the owner just asked me to leave. I wasn't sure why at first but if he had such a problem with me, why didn't he simply just try to talk to me sooner, like as soon as I walked into the door? I understand that this is his store and it's his rules and also that as someone who previously worked in customer service, I can also understand that some customers can act rude and entitled. I didn't think I acted like either during my visit today, but the way the owner acted says otherwise. To the owner, if you are reading this review, just know I mean no disrespect to you, I just hope you understand that the way you treated me today was unprofessional and unacceptable. In the future, if a similar issue to today occurs, just try to talk to the customer and address the issue rather than suddenly kicking them out. Had you done that, I would've been more than willing to comply with your policies. In fact, you'd probably be surprised at the results you may get if you simply talk through the issue with the customer. Despite the awful treatment you gave me today, I still wish you well and I hope you take my review as a learning experience rather than unjust,...
