New Hope Bargain Shoppe — Local services in Jefferson

I have always enjoyed shopping at this store due to its great deals, but unfortunately, I had a negative experience with one of the employees during my most recent visit. I was there with my younger brothers, ages 6 and 7, and they were treated very rudely. Upon entering, everything seemed fine. My brothers went over to the toys, and they were quiet, respectful, and well-behaved. They made sure not to cause any disturbances, cleaned up after themselves, and moved aside to allow others to pass. However, an older female employee began following them around the store without cause. When we moved to the belts, scarves, and ties section, my youngest brother reached for a belt I had asked for his opinion on, and the employee quickly snatched it from his hands, saying "No," before putting it back. I was standing right next to him and engaged in conversation, so there was no reason for her to act in this manner. She then walked a few feet away but continued to watch us. When my brother tried to hand me a tie, the same employee again snatched it from his hands, saying, "No, I already told you once." At no point were my brothers causing trouble or acting inappropriately, so her behavior felt completely unwarranted. This treatment left my brothers upset, which is rare for them after getting a new toy from the thrift store. No one enjoys being followed around or having items taken from their hands, especially young children. If the employee had any concerns, I would have appreciated it if she had approached me directly rather than treating the situation in such an unprofessional manner. While I still enjoy the store and plan to return WITH my younger brothers, I sincerely hope that future visits will be more positive, and that my brothers will not be treated in the same way. My Mom and sister live in Jefferson. Whenever visiting my Mom and I always try to visit the New Hope Store. I always find things to buy. The store is clean and organized well. People are friendly. I like The way things are grouped. Clothes are marked well with sizes. I always look forward to going here. I even try to plan my visits so that at least part of my visit falls within their store hours....

My Girlfriend loves coming to this home town store. She has gotten a lot of great item's here not only for herself but for the entire family. This is a great second store with a wide variety of item's. If you haven't had the chance to stop in, you should if your out and about. Also the proceeds go to helping the church and disabled Adults live...
