I took my Bandit 250 serial # 21700 into Louisville Tractor inc. in Louisville Ky to have the clutch replaced, new knives installed & clean out door replaced on bottom on September 8 2017.
they quoted me $3200 ish
I picked it up 3 weeks LATER Yesterday October 2 2017 and they DID NOT replace my clutch & DID NOT INSTALL THE CLEAN OUT DOOR. THEY only replaced my knives (which was the easiest part of the job.)
i called repeatedly over the last 3 weeks to get an update on what was taking so long and I have been put off and LIED to by Larry the service guy.
monday September 25 I spoke to LarryH and he told me the clutch was installed BUT THE CLEANOUT DOOR HAd not been shipped yet.
I told him I will come pick it up pay for what they had done and for him to call me when the rest of the parts come in and I would bring it back to finish the work. this way I could avoid spending anothher $1000 to rent a chipper for a week.
HE then changed his story to "they were waiting on a "lost" nut or bolt for the clutch that didn't come with the parts. He told me it should be finished by that thursday or friday the 28th or 29th.
October 2nd I called and left a message that no one returned. So I came to the shop to see for my self what was going on AND the cHIPPER IS apart and the clutch is not installed. multiple teeth on the new clutch are broken, chipped or missing and the bolt holes are stripped out WHERE YOU screw the bellhouising on and one of them has CHUNK OF steel missing like something was broken out.
I spoke to the ACTUAL SERVICE TECH working on my chipper and he said he, " cant get it adjusted to go in" because he's used to "getting the entire clutch and bellhousing and just bolting it on". THE SERVICE TECH SHOULD BE ABLE TO INSTALL A CLUTCH!!! they were essentially using my chipper as a practice dummy and making me pay for it.
LarryH and Louisville Tractor told me to give them more time (but couldnt say how LONG) to get it fixed. ITS BEEN 3 WEEKS AND starting the 4th week at this point.
I have already rented a replacement chipper for the last 3 weeks and NOW AN ADDITIONAL 4TH WEEK because they couldnt replace my clutch!!!
I refused the offer and told them to give my chipper back. THey charged me $2575.00 for the time and parts to replace my knives and PRACTICE taking my CLUTCH APART AND NOT be able to FIX IT!!
I will not be having any of my other Bandit chipper or stump cutter SERVICED at Louisville Tractor again.
They are a new dealer and apparently still need time to learn what they are doing. AND IF THEY DONT KNOW JUST TELL ME!!!
DONT MAKE ME WASTE TIME AND MONEY becuase you dont want to tell me your're haviong issues.
I normally replace my OWN CLUTCH , AND KNIVES it DOES NOT TAKE 3 WEEKS!
I spoke to another tree service owner October 2nd that told me Louisville Tractor worked on his 2900 stump cutter and after messing it up had to replace the machine. so this isnt some one-time case of them having issues with repairing Bandit equipment.
I dont know whats going on over there but I cant run my business by not being able to completing work, not knowing when or if I can do it and then charging 3/4 of what I quoted but not doing Half the work.
I am SUPER DISSAPOINTED. I brought my chipper in for the 1st time to Louisville Tractor for what should have been an easy job. I planned on bringing my other chipper in to fix the auto feed and I have a bandit stumP cutter that I buy parts for all the time. I also spoke to the sales guy about purchasing another chipper in the future.
After this experience I wont be doing any of that. i am sending my complaint to Bandit and posting my review online as well.

Read moreMy first experience since they became Anderson. My one year old Farris 72” mower had a belt slipping and the cut wasn’t as crisp as it was when it was new. I also asked him to recommend any service that was needed at 150 hours and asked for him to change oil and check the air filter. I arrived early, prior to opening, the service manager Larry arrived about the same time - he opened up a few items and then called me in prior to posted opening time. He took my info, , was very friendly and informative about what and when service was due on my 1 year old machine. As I was pulling out he came running out trying to get my attention. He said I just wanted to let you know with the oil system you have you only need to change the oil every 500 hours. Part of my asking for recommendations and service interval PM is to see what they say and try to sell. It was peak season and mowers are on first come first served basis - I was expecting it to take several weeks. I got a call a few days later explaining what needed to be done and cost. They called me a day latter and said the hour meter was on order but if I wanted to come get it I could. Most places in my experience would have changed the oil regardless, and quite possibly would have tried to generate additional revenue doing other maintenance that really wasn’t necessary. They did a great job, gave sound service advice and the most important they were ethical and honest- thank you - I will bring everything...
Read moreThe parts department guys are grouchy old farts and rude most of the time. I've had them walk away from me while I was talking. Had the wrong parts given to me several times, had to travel back to exchange them costing me more time and more money. I only go there if I'm in that area and don't have time to travel to the south end of town to do business at Bluegrass. I dread going in this place the service is so unfriendly and lazy. They take forever to wait on you, even though there will be several people behind the counter doing nothing. I called to buy $1800 worth of JRCO attatchments last fall, the guy said he would call JRCO to find out ordering them for me and prices, I never recieved a call back. I called and talked to JRCO myself. I called back Louisville tractor and asked for a manager to complain about the no call back. The manager said they could not reach JRCO , I said "huh really that's strange because I just got off the phone with them 5 minutes ago , would you like for me to call them on 3 way for you? Oops never mind I already orderer them from power equipment warehouse instead." The only nice person there is the receptionist lady that answers the phone. I buy 10's of thousands of dollars in equipment every year , I do not make my large purchases with these...
