TLDR: I saved 54% of my budget by going with PC Bros over the "big box store". I will be shopping with PC Bros for all my PC needs moving forward. Thanks PC Bros!
This review is going to cover 3 purchases with PC Bros over a 4-month span... here goes.
May 30th, I needed a desktop PC. I had already purchased 2 high end gaming PC's from a large "reputable" system integrator and both were so poorly optimized that I returned them. I needed my desktop for a coming project and time had run out.
I was already a subscriber of the "Toasty Bros" YouTube channel and knew they were local so I jumped in the car and went to their shop. Upon arrival, I was surprised to see a large selection of devices. They were well stocked with desktop PC's, peripherals, and preowned laptops. EVERYTHING I needed in one spot without having to deal with the "big box store"... YES!!!
After a chat with the staff, I was out the door with not only a desktop PC but, a laptop for my sister (which they shipped for me at a reasonable price)! Best part, I was under budget (even with the laptop purchase) and the PC did exactly what I needed it to do!
Interesting side note about this purchase, my sister isn't the most comfortable with Windows devices and ran into an issue with the laptop. Unbeknownst to me at the time, she called PC Bros and they got her issue settled over the phone in a matter of minutes!
Sept. 26th
After a few months, my workload had evolved to the point where I needed an upgrade. While the PC I bought in May was more than capable of flawlessly completing the workload I had bought it for, I was now bumping into the technological limitations of the hardware... I needed a CPU & GPU upgrade.
After speaking with the staff at PC Bros, I decided that yes, all I needed was a CPU/GPU bump. We picked out my hardware and set an appointment time for me to drop off the PC.
The day came for drop off and went off without a hitch, I was told that the PC should be ready for pickup in about a day or so and that was that... so I thought. Fast forward a couple hours later and my phone rings... PC Bros... I thought "Well, here is the hiccup. Wonder what this will cost"? Turns out, it wasn't a hiccup, my PC was ready for pickup! On top of that, they gave me a decent price on my used hardware for trade! Moreover, they even had a surprise for me when I fired up the machine... they took note of a comment that I made about a software I wanted to use but had a hard time getting to work. They had the software installed and running great! That is 100% the best customer experience I have had in YEARS!
Jump forward a few days...
After setting the PC up and taking the time to tune my hardware, I am happy to report that I am seeing massive gains in my work and play!
What's more impressive is the fact that I am still waaaaaay under budget! I had set a budget of $5k and with my initial PC purchase for the projects that I wanted to tackle. Here's the breakdown...
Initial PC Purchase: $1,400 Laptop for sister: $200 Upgrades: $900 Trade-in: -$200
Total (pre tax)- $2,300
In closing I am happy to say that I will be using PC Bros for all my tech needs moving forward. The staff is knowledgeable and work hard at solving your issues and keeping you under budget... can't say that for the box...
Read moreI don't typically write reviews. In this case I feel compelled. I have minimal knowledge about PC's. Because of this I utilized the consult service. I explained what my issues were with the current rig I was using and provided the specs of my rig. It was late afternoon and didn't expect a reply until the next day. I was wrong got a response within an hour with recommendations on 3 rigs. After a few more exchanges with the bros I purchased a unit. My PC shipped on Thursday (same day purchased) and arrived on Monday early afternoon. There was no damage as the PC was meticulously packaged. Hooked everything up turned it on everything worked perfectly. Just needed to load my games and apps. I did run into an issue, which was on my part (connected to wrong video port), contacted the bros via email (before I figured out what had happened , which wouldn't have happened if the enclosed instructions were read my bad). Within the hour they responded willing to help anyway they could even remotely if needed. Quick to respond on the sales side and quick to respond on the issue side, cant beat that. I recommend these guys, very conscientious in addition I am experiencing better performance than I was promised !!! Don't let cost be your only determining factor, in my opinion they deserve your business they will certainly have mine in the future. I am an old man been around a lot seen a lot. Like I mentioned I don't usually write reviews but when I recognize integrity I have to give...
Read more@Peter Lane I was in Kentucky two weeks ago visiting my parents. My dad was complaining his computer was too slow and I wanted to make sure he had something good before I left. I googled PC stores nearby and up came PCBros. I was greeted very kindly and explained that I didn't know what I was looking for exactly but that I was hoping not to spend more than 200$ for a computer my dad could use to surf the web that wouldn't be slow like his is now. To my surprise they had something just for me in stock. I walked out with a 140$ laptop and a smile. I thought about going to best buy but those laptops start much higher and even ones I've tried before they had on display were slow for some reason. This laptop I got today boots up really fast, the worker explained that they put something in it to make it fast and did so with almost all the computers they have so that impressed me. No complains from my dad. He doesn't talk much but I knew he was upset I spent money on him. I was on the phone with my mother today and she said he is using it more than he did his last one so I'll call that a win. I came to post this review and saw @Peter Lane and was dumb founded. I am not sure how you can say they are scammers, they offer very affordable computers compared to anywhere else, and it even had 1 year warranty they told me for whatever that is worth. Also upon looking at your other reviews Peter it seems you are a serial one star reviewer. Some people just can't be...
