Most of the dessert places if the store were closed or nobody there to get anything and also very crowded to even walk with items . For love shack portion : Terrible food nowadays and the young girl cashier was horribly rude and insulting to myself and a family member two seperate incidents. I actually used to like this place and referred a lot of people and have visited about twenty times before but after todays incident I will never return and will tell everyone I know . Everyone in my group of 8 was shocked by how this girl acted and her “manager” who was around the same age as her I assume just watched and let her be condescending and rude over something that was her fault . In the other incident my mom ordered food and my mom didn’t hear her so just started ordering and then the cashier said something rudely to my mom because my mom just started ordering instead of replying with how her day was going. I worked in Restaurants and customer service for ten years . Does this girl realyze that they have a job dealing with customers and they aren’t in the street where they can talk to someone however they’d like . So when you call me childish and say I need to pay extra for something because you messed up my order, maybe don’t call customers childish . A-this wasn’t my fault . You said something along the lines of well I didn’t hear you so now you have to pay if you want sweet potato fries . Not my fault you didn’t hear me. and b- even if it was, my fault (it wasn’t) and I was getting upset most people would with your attitude and taking no responsibility for not listening when I gave my order) I would never dare talk to a customer like that when I waited tables or worked in customer service . So to the cashier who called me childish because you didn’t hear me say I wanted sweet potato fries and then say if I wanted them I needed go pay extra to replace my plain fries, that’s just the rudest customer service ever. At least she did it with a smile, right ?? Lol. Point blank. Period . Also the oysters were gross. Bye :) like I said I have eaten there probably twenty times referred many people but never again and even if your customer service had been good we wouldn’t be back nor would I ever refer again because the food went way down hill in...
Read moreNice people if you speak to them or need help! And I did one day...with a serious issue. The clerk was wonderful she went abouve and beyond with me. But, the brunswick stew, bbq, chili, peanut butter pie, and boars head breakfast sandwiches are amazingingly good. I like some of the items in the gift shop too...I bought two of the same items on two different trips. The first was Honey. Did you know that unless you buy organic locally sourced honey, you are eating american honey tainted with chinese honey added in that because of the environment and chemicals that the bees and flowers have been polluted with...that you are eating honey that is not good for you and that can cause allergies to happen or be worse?? Yes it is true! But not here at this store! They have Honey, Real Clean, all good HONEY! I bought some Tupelo Honey on my first trip and after tasting it, completely understood as to why they charged so much for it. It is worth it! I don't mind supporting these folks, beecause...EXACTLY! BEE CAUSE!! On the second visit I bought a regular jar which was a lower price, but equally healthy and delicious!! Also, the little wool throws...I can say enough good things about this item. The people that weave them, the quality, warmth, the length is perfect because I can use it as a full length nap blanket, tie it into a sweater, or wear it as a shawl. The fact that it is ethically sourced and the high quality makes me proud to own two of them! And they also have a nice salad bar to go with that Brunswick Stew or Bbq if you should want to spend a night having dinner on your hotel balcony with your main squeeze. ;) Now, many things in this store are a little overpriced(a jar candle that is $44 and change?) I would have bought two if they were $23, instead. Definitely too expensive...but some things are worth it....like the pie and the wool throws. The bathrooms are right outside and there is plenty of space to sit and eat. I love this...
Read moreJekyll Market seems like a good place to work until you actually work there. As an African American you aren't paid correctly or treated like the Caucasian employees. You're paid less and carry the heaviest work load.I dealt with the unfair treatment for 3 years. I allowed myself to stay focused and endure, because I needed my job to provide for my children. Slavery was in the 20's, 30's etc. However, I never knew what it felt like until working for this company. Many times you customers came in the store and I looked tired, beat, or like I just didn't want to be there. You were exactly right, but because I had responsibilities I endured until God moved me. Don't be so quick to judge employees when you see them in these situations. Deep down inside I was dying because of being lied to, strung along and disrespected. I stayed, showed up for every shift and did what I had to do until I couldn't anymore. I even worked out my 2 weeks notice. As African Americans don't patronize this store. You money is good but to them you are no good. I pray that God changes their thinking. Until color isn't a problem for everyone. It will continue to be a problem...
