Last weekend I ate at Corridor Z on Jekyll Island, Georgia. This seafood concentrated dining was exactly what my group had been searching for all weekend. We chose Corridor Z, because a couple of nights previously we ate at their sister restaurant on the marina, Zachary's River House. The experience there wasn't too great so we were hoping to give another chance to this location, and to say we were pleased would be an understatement. The restaurant has a very welcoming view of the beach to the right of the entrance and inside the building was decorated to make you feel light and happy with your meal. Unfortunately, the day that I went, there were storms and heavy winds outside so I did not get to experience the outdoor seating although it looked very beautiful from the windows. I would say this is on the pricier side, especially if you are one to order an appetizer and dessert with your meal. I would expect to pay about $30 per person. Even though the price point might confuse you, most people there were in casual wear. We sat at one of the center tables of the restaurants which is not ideal for me, because those tables typically provide discomfort, but this table did not. I also thought it was a very unique touch that not every TV was set to some sports game. Although I am one to love watching a good competition, it is nice to have other options. We saw various demographics walking in for the dinnertime rush hour. A noticeable amount of tourists were flooding in, but there were also regulars coming in to just enjoy the food. The hostess was very nice and all of the waiting staff was attentive and polite. They were quick to check in and did a wonderful job of recommending the specials and their personal picks off the menu. The manager even saw me taking pictures of the menus and brought me over two smaller menus to take home in case I needed them. The appetizers came out a little slower than I expected but they made up for it with a short wait time return on the entrees. We ordered the Bacon Wrapped Scallops for our appetizer and asked the waitress if she would recommend them based on taste and the size of our party. She said they were a customer favorite, but informed us that we might need to order two since we were a party of five and each order comes with three scallops. I am not really a big scallops fan because I'm not a big fan of the rubbery texture and salty juices that come out, but these were delicious. I was even the one who ate the extra one after we had each had ours. The bacon wasn't too crunchy and it seemed to have almost a smoky flavor which I enjoyed. The scallops themselves were soft and not too dense and I didn’t even notice a salty flavor. Every bite melted in my mouth and left a craving for more. I ordered the Mahi sandwich. It came on the most perfect hoagie bun that was grilled to a perfect crunch on the surface but soft and warm on the inside. I got my fish blackened and the seasoning flavor was good, but not spicy enough for me, however I have a high spice tolerance and enjoy eating super spicy food so take that to your own consideration. It came with a side of tartar sauce that was definitely homemade. For dessert we got the fried cheesecake for everyone to try. There isn't really too much to say negatively about it but it didn't wow me either. It seemed very basic and the tortilla they used to fry it in wasn't all the way crispy. It also had a lot of cinnamon on it which wasn't my favorite thing to see, but overall these are just personal preferences and the next person could love it. Their hours are pretty good, they are open for lunch and dinner. The hours match perfectly with their atmosphere and impression, come for a quick lunch, maybe a longer dinner and stay at their bar and TVs later. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back. Maybe next time I try it, I'll go on a game night and test out the football vibes here. I will definitely be recommending this place for friends and family that...
Read moreThis past Sunday my best friend and I went over to Jeykll island to go for a walk with both of our dogs on the beach, because it has been so cool during the morning time. When we ended up walking around on the beach for awhile and ended up getting hungry for some lunch. So we walked into the little stores around the hotels and right as we stepped into the concreate area with all the stores is when we saw a restaurant called Corridor Z. We ended up stopping and seeing they had outside setting facing the water so we were glad because we could take our dogs with us as well. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very nice host that had already started asking us what breed our dogs were. She kindly showed us to the outside seating and sat us under a seat with a fan because it started to get a little warm outside. Then a nice server greeted us and asked us for our drink order and when he came back with our drinks, he always had water for our dogs. Me and my friend couldn't decide on what to order because we had never been there. What also was appealing was the pricing to us it wasn't as expensive as you would think a place on Jeykll would be. I ended up order a Plain chicken Sandwhich with French fries. Very basic but it sounded delicious at the time. It wasn't to much longer as we ordered the server was already bringing out our entree. It looked mighty appealing and my friend order also looked good. The taste was very good the chicken was very tender and the flavoring was so good for a basic chicken Sandwhich and my dog also had a bite and she also agreed it was very good. The service and environment of the restaurant was a very relaxing as the porch area looks on to the beach. For someone that has never been there. I will definitely...
Read moreBeautiful Setting, Great Service — But Disappointing Management
We recently visited ‘Corridor, Z kitchen, and cocktail’ on Jekyll Island and were impressed by the overall experience at first. The setting is absolutely beautiful — right on the beach with a lovely atmosphere. Our server was excellent: attentive, friendly, and made sure our food came out quickly and correctly.
Unfortunately, our experience was dampened by how management handled an issue with our drinks. We ordered 3 cocktails, one tasted strongly of soap and was undrinkable. Another simply didn’t taste right. When we politely brought this up, the manager (possibly the owner) didn’t seem interested in addressing the concern, improving the experience, or adjusting the bill. They did remove the drinks from the table, but there was no real acknowledgment or effort to make things right.
We still enjoyed the food and the view, and we really appreciated our server’s professionalism — but the way management responded left us disappointed. With such a great location and team, a little more hospitality from the top would...
