Terrible food nowadays and the young girl cashier was horribly rude and insulting to myself and a family member two seperate incidents. I actually used to like this place and referred a lot of people and have visited about twenty times before but after todays incident I will never return and will tell everyone I know . Everyone in my group of 8 was shocked by how this girl acted and her “manager” who was around the same age as her I assume just watched and let her be condescending and rude over something that was her fault . In the other incident my mom ordered food and my mom didn’t hear her so just started ordering and then the cashier said something rudely to my mom because my mom just started ordering instead of replying with how her day was going. I worked in Restaurants and customer service for ten years . Does this girl realyze that they have a job dealing with customers and they aren’t in the street where they can talk to someone however they’d like . So when you call me childish and say I need to pay extra for something because you messed up my order, maybe don’t call customers childish . A-this wasn’t my fault . You said something along the lines of well I didn’t hear you so now you have to pay if you want sweet potato fries . Not my fault you didn’t hear me. and b- even if it was, my fault (it wasn’t) and I was getting upset most people would with your attitude and taking no responsibility for not listening when I gave my order) I would never dare talk to a customer like that when I waited tables or worked in customer service . So to the cashier who called me childish because you didn’t hear me say I wanted sweet potato fries and then say if I wanted them I needed go pay extra to replace my plain fries, that’s just the rudest customer service ever. At least she did it with a smile, right ?? Lol. Point blank. Period . Also the oysters were gross. Bye :) like I said I have eaten there probably twenty times referred many people but never again and even if your customer service had been good we wouldn’t be back nor would I ever refer again because the food went way down hill in...
Read moreWe ate here twice during our stay. It was good but the second visit wasn’t as good as the first. First time, we got the kids shrimp with collards (veggie of the day) and my husband got the jumbo pulled pork BBQ sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals. The guy that took my order the first visit was nice and friendly. It didn’t take very long to get our food but they weren’t really busy. The second visit, the girl taking orders wasn’t rude but she wasn’t very friendly either. She must’ve been having a bad day. She had a bit of attitude and was mumbling stuff behind the counter and was actually kinda hateful to the guy in front of me but she was friendly enough to me. They were busier so it did take longer to get our food but it wasn’t terrible. We got the same thing except they didn’t have the collards so I tried the slaw. The slaw was not great at all. I didn’t like it and gave it to my husband and he didn’t like it so it ended up in the garbage but the rest of the food was good. The bbq was tender and didn’t have hardly any sauce on it so that was great that you can add as little or as much sauce as you want. It wasn’t smokey and that’s a huge win in my book. The only complaint I have about it was that it would’ve been nice to have it chopped up a little more and not just huge long chunks of meat but I guess I could’ve taken it off and chopped it myself. The wild Georgia fried shrimp were good, not too heavy like a lot of fried stuff and had good flavor. We would...
Read moreLove Shack is a hidden gem tucked in the back corner of the Jekyll Market. It’s a casual walk-up spot with no indoor seating, but you’re just steps away from the beach or the nearby outdoor tables, making it the perfect place to grab a bite and enjoy the island atmosphere.
This quaint BBQ and shrimp place came highly recommended by locals, and it’s easy to see why. They offer several gluten-free options and have a dedicated fryer for gluten-free fries and sweet potato fries. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about celiac and other allergies, which made the experience feel both safe and welcoming.
I had the rotisserie chicken, pulled pork, and coleslaw with their house BBQ sauce. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with the spicy sauce and loved it. Their ranch dressing is also made in-house and worth trying.
While you’re there, be sure to browse the Jekyll Market for groceries or a few fun souvenirs you probably don’t need but won’t resist. If you’re visiting Jekyll Island, Love Shack is a must for a quick, tasty meal with a side...
