I took my daughter to get her hair done today and frankly I was nervous. I use to take her to this place off little York road in Katy. The customer service was always bad but they did good in the hair department and it was cheaper than most salons ( although the price has drastically increased) well recently a friend shared that this place had put something in the shampoo that ruined her curls. I decided not to return especially not with my child. WELL JC hair salon restored my faith in Dominican hair salons today! I have always gone to Dominican woman to do my hair they are experts in brown girl hair care and JC salon proved this to me once again! Jaritza and the other ladies took their time deep conditioning, washing, setting, then blowing out and finally flat ironing my 11 year old daughters hair with care and kindness. The customer service was great. A warm friendly environment of brown women chatting happily in multiple stages of the beatification process, everyone leaving happy with absolutely beautiful hair. It was just like my years of going to Dominican women as a child in New York to get my hair done! Minus the great Dominican music which would have sent me back in time! 💕 my daughter left with a beautiful blow out and a smile on her face. She’s ready for her first year in middle school!! feeling confident and beautiful! Thank you so much Jaritza! and ladies at JC salon. Now I did see a review about cost and on a side note I would like to comment on that. You get what you pay for ladies. 75 dollars gets you intense heat, perm mixed in the shampoo, and mean spirited women who have disdain for their customers and talk about their customers, believing nobody understands what they’re saying. Additionally any decent salon takes 3-4 hrs if it’s packed there’s a great reason! I highly recommend JC salon!!! What a...
Read moreI've been coming to this salon for a few years now all the way from Spring. My cousin recommended me and had been going for a while and I loved how healthy her hair was. When I started coming, I cut my hair really short and stopped perming my hair & decided to start over and wanted my hair to grow out healthy which it has. This is a Dominican salon so they do Dominican blowouts for the most part. But keep in mind that they also do perms & hair color. There is definitely always a wait for the most part (like most salons) but it's worth it. Go in the morning or during the week. I came in during the week at 450 and left around 7 - only 2 hours. There are times I've been here 4+ hours. But they've added dryers, more people washing hair etc. and have therefore become more efficient. My hair gets really straight. I haven't permed my hair for about 5 years. They encourage you to go natural. I've always had Juana or Mary do my hair. Even when I moved to Dallas, I would still come here when I came I'm town. At one point, I stopped coming for about a year and only did flat irons. You can now tell a difference in my hair as it isn't as healthy but I've been coming back now to get it back healthy.
As people have mentioned, this is owned by a family of Dominican sisters and a few of the stylists are just their friends. Their children are often in the salon. They are big on church and religion. They do talk in Spanish sometimes which may be intimidating or an issue for some. They also have a lot of people that have been coming for a while and come pretty often or are friends of the family so yes, I can understand how people would feel like they have their...
Read moreI paid $230 for a blowout, trim, and styling, which was done by Señora Mary. I have always wanted to do a Brazilian/Dominican blowout, and I chose this place because it was only 10 minutes away from my house. I arrived there for my consultation at 9:51 AM and was given the estimated price of $180. I told Señora Mary to see if she could make sure the service wasn’t more than $200 because I was on a budget. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed to hear that the charge was $230, but I loved the results, so I paid the amount. I didn’t leave the salon until 4:30 PM. I was slightly annoyed by the chitchatting that went on. I felt like the stylists were not focusing on their work. I will say, however, that they took their time on all the ladies’ hair, and the results were stunning! Besides the chitchat, wasted time and price, my only other complaint is the amount of heat that was used on my hair. The heat on sensitive parts of my head and my ear were extremely unpleasant, and I’m not sure Señora Mary used heat protectant. Overall, I wasn’t satisfied with the pain, the amount of time wasted, or the price, but I love how my hair looks. I’m not sure when/if I will get a Dominican blowout again because the heat is too much for my dry natural hair. I also don’t think I will come back to this salon, if I can find a more affordable price for the same stunning results at...
