Crazy Frogs Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Texas

Last night was my fourth time visiting Crazy Frogs. Every time I go, I meet someone new because there people are so friendly. Laid-back atmosphere, good prices, great bartenders, and Donavin runs the karaoke on Thursday and Friday. There's a different KJ on Saturday, but they do have karaoke then too.

It was a great time and it was packed on Friday night. I'll definitely try to come back on another Friday because it was a blast. My previous visits were on a Wednesday, a Thursday, and a Saturday. It was a more relaxed good time, and not as lively as my Friday night visit.

About the karaoke - I think Donavin might be my favorite KJ ever. He's personable and friendly, but he goes all out. For many singers, he'll offer to play electric guitar and do back up vocals (mostly classic rock, from what I've seen). He sounds great, and it feels amazing to share the stage with him. He'll also mess with the sound board during some songs. When you've had a drink or two and get up on that stage, you'll feel like a rock star performing a concert.

One thing to consider - smoking is allowed inside. That may be a pro or a con, depending on...

The drinks were great, shot specials also good. Bar service was incredibly friendly, and the regular patrons were also very nice as well. It was our first time out and my friend wanted to sing Karaoke but has a bit of an anxiety issue. When he went up to the DJ, Donovan i believe was his name, he signed up and when he was trying to ask a simple question just to prepare himself, the DJ rudely shooed him away. My friend (and i witnessed this myself) said Sir please listen i just want to know if there is something that tells me in advance i'll be next so i can go to the bathroom, its an anxiety thing. To which the dj replied "look man you're going to have to let me work" i'll call you up but you're going to have to let me work. We later found out your name pops up on the screen at the bottom to let you know. Man... that would have been really quick easy info to give had he not been so pretentious about what he was doing. I used to come into this place pretty regularly back around '20-'23, when I was dating one of their regulars. I don't really come in here anymore, because it's something like 30 minutes from my house. Tonight (Friday) was the first time I've come in for karaoke in quite awhile, probably years. Vinny the karaoke jock was excellent as always. The karaoke always sounds good here. Service at the bar was 50% great (slim brunette who's name escapes me) and 50% poor (blonde with glasses). I forget her name too, but I remember her from years ago. She was unkind then, and she's just as unkind now. Brunette served me a shot (Fireball) and a beer (Lone Star) with a genuine smile. Blonde came down around my end of the bar when I was considering ordering another round and scowled/frowned at me, and that's what reminded me of why I stopped coming in here when I was in the neighborhood.
