When I moved to Juneau over 10 years ago Mendenhall Mall was a ghost town to say the least. It was sad to see this place so full of potential look so neglected, especially since it stayed this way for so long. With mostly closed up store spaces, minimal lighting and a lack of life, I know that I speak for numerous people when I say that we are happy that is a thing of the past! Mendenhall Mall is once again so full of life! There are still empty store fronts but I suspect not for very long. The wide range of services and stores filling up the mall are sure to make it a one stop shop for anyone. Some of the shops located inside the mall are: Southeast Alaska Wearhouse AKA Capital Embroidery - They offer a wide array of Carhartt clothing, various jackets, shirts, hats and more. They do both embroidery and screen printing type designs. Their capabilities are endless and their service is outstanding. When you're out and about in town and see someone wearing a vest with embroidery, a shirt with their work logo, a school sporting team jersey there is a very high chance it was done there.
Juneau Pizza - I love this spot of theirs. They are open for take out, delivery and inhouse dinning having a couple booth style sitting areas and then one large sitting area for a large group. You can go in and get pizza by the slice which is fantastic for a quick bit when you're out shopping. Their cinnamon rolls are out of this world and their frozen lemonade drinks are refreshing even on a cold day. They still have all the same great food they had at their old spot and the employees are great as well.
Redefined - I will edit this once I have the correct information since I'm not 100% sure that is the new name but it is the Mommy and Me store just under new ownership. They are a consignment shop with clothing and accessories related to children. So think not just clothes but diaper bags, shoes, toys, costumes, bedding and anything else mom and child related. I highly recommend them even if you don't have children since they have a great selection of clothing and shoes that aren't just maternity sized. Their prices are great too. *
Alaskan Dames - This is another consignment shop offering high end boutique items at very affordable prices. If you're looking for name brand clothing this is where one would go. In the past they had two locations with a lot more inventory however now that they downsized to this one shop they focus on higher end name brand items. The quality of the items sold is never less than excellent and what they have always changes. They are great to consign with as well offering a very generous percentage back on items accepted. You can find everything from Louis Vuitton handbags to Longaberger baskets here as well as one of a kind boutique items, house wears and everything in between.
Marthas Flowers - A great little flower shop with crystals, candles, fun and neat little trinkets, dried flowers, and so much more.
There is a child's play area now that I don't know the name of but looks to be fun for children 5 and under. *
A quilting store that is so extensive it will make anyone want to learn the craft. They offer classes and machines for rent.*
A soap store with all different kinds of bath soaps that are responsibly made and planet friendly. Also offering the largest selection of CBD animal products.*
2 more restaurants that I will update this with once I have their information. Both with delicious food. *
A tea store offering everything one would need when it comes to loose teas. *
And a bunch of other stores that I just now realized I don't know the names of. *

Read moreEvery grocery store in Juneau has its Thing that it does well (except Safeway- eff that place) and Superbear does meat and seafood really well. A couple weeks ago I got a hankering for a Mediterranean style octopus salad- but where to find an octopus? "Superbear will have 'em," I said confidently, and they did, and they were on special. Their butcher shop is good, prices are good, quality and freshness is great. It's a smaller market than you're used to if you're from the lower 48, and I often find I can't get EVERYTHING on my list there, but meat and seafood is tops. Also, I think Foodland wins for produce selection, but Superbear absoLUTEly wins for produce presentation. The carrots are always artfully piled, the lemons just so... the produce manager here...
