We have had multiple issues with my engagement ring since purchasing from here. I highly recommend reading this review to the full extent to understand what we went through with them. My fiancé chose Waldo Jewelers to create my engagement ring because he saw the good reviews and liked that it was a smaller jeweler. A year later, and we have had nothing but issues with the ring.
One month after receiving the ring, I lost the main large diamond somewhere in my home. Luckily, we had insurance that covered the loss. When my fiancé took my ring back to Waldo Jewelers to get the new diamond, he asked if they could do something to make the diamond more secure. At that time, they told him they recommend 6 prongs for oval shaped diamonds (he was not told that when he was creating the ring with them and they did 4 prongs to begin with). They decided they needed to completely remake the entire ring to change it from 4 prongs to 6 prongs. So, one month after receiving the ring, I lost the sentimental value of the ring and diamond that my fiancé proposed with because they had to completely make a new one (other jewelers told us they should not have had to remake the entire ring to change the prong settings).
When we received the ring back, the 2 gemstones that we have on the inside of the ring were not where my fiancé asked them to be when originally creating the ring, so we had to give them the ring back again to put the gemstones back like they were on the original ring.
A few months later, we took our ring to get cleaned at a different jewelry store and at that time, the small gemstones on the inside of the ring fell out. Luckily, that jewelry store replaced them and told us that the gemstones had not been properly set and were bound to fall out no matter what. That jewelry store added small prongs so the gemstones are now more secure.
The final thing happened one month out from our wedding. We took our engagement ring along with a ring purchased elsewhere into Waldo Jewelers and asked them if they were able to make both rings the same color of gold (one was darker than the other). At that time, the jeweler at Waldo told us that our ring looked to be 14k gold. We also took the ring to a different jeweler after that and they confirmed the ring is 14k gold. This wouldn't be a big deal except we paid Waldo Jewelers for an 18k gold ring and they had it reported on our Insurance Appraisal as 18k gold - which is fraud.
We did go into Waldo and explained the situation and they reappraised the ring as a 14k gold ring and gave us the money back that we over paid. They offered to remake the ring in 18k gold, but I did not take them up on the offer because I do not trust them to work on my ring or any of my jewelry. I plan to never go to their...
Read moreI went into Waldo Jewelers looking for help with making an engagement ring. I wanted a local store that was around the corner from where I lived. Walking into the store I immediately felt right at home. Michael helped me craft a simple hidden halo look that my girlfriend wanted with a sentimental family diamond. I signed off on the papers and went about my business to return in a couple weeks, on a Thursday, to pick up the ring.
Fast forward to pickup day. I walk in asking for the ring. The color leaves Michael’s face. I had told him the WRONG Thursday. (I tend to get easily flustered when it comes to things like this). I had an entire proposal, that was out of town with friends, completely planned out. I started to freak out but left the store saying “no worries, it’s my bad, I’ll figure out a new way to do it”. Before I’d even pulled out of the parking lot, Michael texted me, “Come back tomorrow when we open. It will be ready.” I’m pretty sure I started crying.
Sure enough, the following morning, after extensive “jiggle/endurance testing”, the ring was ready. We made it to our destination, and she said yes! She was so touched that it was not only a sentimental diamond, but that it was from a store in our neighborhood!
If I had run into this insane predicament at a “big box” store.. I’d be sh*t out of luck. Michael and his team pulled some strings and made my dream come true. We will definitely be using them for our wedding bands and for future jewelry. I strongly recommend using Waldo Jewelers. ( I’m sorry I didn’t write a song like...
Read moreI have to say what an AMAZING jeweler Michael is! I had the stone replaced in my wedding ring three years ago; I had been to other jewelers and their quotes were way too high for my comfort level. Michael took the time to listen to my needs--since I work with my hands, I didn't want a pricey stone in the ring, but I wanted it to be beautiful. He suggested a lab-created stone, moissanite, which turned out to be GORGEOUS. He also tightened the prongs, cleaned the rings (engagement and wedding set), and honestly made it look brand-new. I feel very comfortable wearing the ring at work, and it still looks beautiful!
Since he'd done such wonderful work, I returned to the shop last month to have the stone in my mother-in-law's wedding ring replaced. We talked about moissanite again (since it's an heirloom that won't be worn often, I didn't want to spend a great deal of money). After research, however, Michael contacted me and let me know that natural diamond would actually cost less! So we settled on that, and the ring was done in less than a week. Again, it was GORGEOUS work, and I am so pleased with the result.
Most important, I admire Michael's honesty in letting me know about a less costly option for the stone. He is a true craftsman who really cares about his customers and does the very best for each of them. I'll be back to Waldo Jewelers for ALL of my...
