Great local place, with great coffee, served up by a great staff. In an environment increasingly dominated by the hegemony of a national brand, and a local bully (won’t name names, but it rhymes with boastery), it’s lovely to see a local-boy-done-good. As someone who knows his way around a coffee shop, I can say that Crows gets it right. It’s got the right Local Coffee Shop vibe. It offers just the right amount of pastries and breakfast burritos, and serves up an excellent brew to go along with them. And the staff is just about the nicest I’ve ever seen. The clientele is a great reflection of the Waldo neighborhood as well. All ages, LGBT-friendly, students, artists, sales people, walkers, bikers, parents with their little ones, readers, gamers, and nerds of all stripes… it’s a true melting pot, and they’re all welcome.
What else can I say? It’s a great little coffee shop. And it would be tough to find any place in Waldo or Brookside that I’d rather spend a few hours of my life two or three...
Read moreIt was an ecclectic group of patrons. Which made the atmosphere tense. I was verbally reprimanded by a man. For coughing and or clearing my throat to often or something like that. There is no mandate in Waldo or KC metro. The establishment does still have their mask mandate signage on the door. I oblige the request..... Don't get lost on the mask thing. No one on staff seemed concerned about it. Said nothing, didn't ask how I was, didn't ask how he was from what I gathered. All in all it really did make me feel a lot of mixed emotions. I said sorry. And removed myself from the coffee shop ( making sure that my ask was on..)
The blueberry muffin was doable for the size and price.
The drip coffee was probably just under the temperature of the surface of the sun.
I'm probably not going to return for awhile. It just didn't make me feel like I can relax and enjoy my morning time in solidarity... With the volume level of my...
Read moreThis place holds a special spot in my heart. The staff here is remarkable, and as a creature of comfort, I've established a routine—I order the same thing every time. Whether it's the days requiring a cozy jacket and a hot coffee or the warmer ones prompting an iced cold brew, my preferences are met with seamless consistency. One of the aspects I cherish is the familiarity with the staff; they've made it a point to know me by name. It's those little gestures that make a significant impact, and this personalized touch extends across all three locations. The breakfast burritos have become my perfect morning go-to, and as the day transitions to evening, the option to enjoy a glass of wine adds an extra layer of versatility to this establishment. It's more than just a place to dine; it's a welcoming community where my routine feels not only anticipated...
