Let me start off by saying this place has amazing food đ I have never been before last weekend but have only heard amazing things. Unfortunately those good things were about the other locations (Lee's Summit) and not this one (Waldo)
Me and a few Co workers came up right after work, about 3pm on a Friday. After finding a large enough table to seat those of us who were already there and the other still yet to come we were quickly whisked away to a smaller table that accommodated who was present. The host knew we had more coming after we had informed her prior to us being seated. We waited at the table about 10-15 min for someone to come by and give us menus and take our drink orders. Finally I saw three maybe four staff members standing in a far corner of the area laughing and talking amongst one another. I made sure contact with atleast one and she came right over. "C" apologized for not realizing that she was assigned to our table and proceeded to get us taken care of with our orders. With in the next thirty minutes the remaining of our party trickled in so what was a table of three was now a table of five with still more to come! We did not wait for everyone to show up to order so food and drinks were coming in as the orders were placed. Once we ran out of room at the table we tried to slide the empty table that was next to us over to make up for the minimal seating. We were told by our server that we would not be able to move that table over as it was against policy and she ushered us over to the very table we were originally dismissed from đ At this point I was annoyed and found it very unaccommodating that we were forced to move tables after guys and drinks had been brought to the table. At that point we're should've been able to put the two tables together... Anyway. Two or three more people showed up, food and drinks were on point definitely the highlight of the day. We asked for our checks and to no one's surprise we were meet with more unsatisfactory service. I ended up with mine and another's food and drinks on my tab, someone else didn't have everything they ordered on there ticket. And various other issues with the remaining tickets. We were met with attitude and lack of care by our server and for this reason I will patronize other locations rather...
Read moreIâll start with the good: The food here always tastes good and I assume if you donât have any food restrictions you probably wouldnât have a problem with the service. But, I have several allergies and a strict medical diet. This was my experience last Monday (labor day) for late brunch: I informed my server of my restrictions and she said the chef would like to come talk to me (I LOVE it when places handle it this way because itâs usually the only way to communicate properly and without miscommunication), but that it would be a few minutes. I said that was perfectly happy waiting and ordered a hummus. A minute or two later a manager, a young woman, came to our table and said the chef would be longer so I could just talk to her. I said okay, and discussed my restrictions and ordered with the manager, a farmhouse burger, no bun, no cheese, extra lettuce, add avocado and grilled onions. All to be cooked with olive oil only as Iâm allergic to several oils used in most blended vegetable oil. When the server brought it out it was a completely PLAIN burger (aka nothing on it at all, just a patty) with some leaf lettuce. And she said, âyup, plain, nothing on itâ and I said... âumm... but I still wanted the stuff on it.. it just needed to be cooked in olive oil...â etc, and repeated my order. And she said, âOH! Well she didnât tell me any of that!â (Referring to the manager) and took it back to be remade. So apparently a MANAGER of this restaurant is unable to remember or communicate a food allergy order with a few simple modifications. When it came back out it did have the rest of the stuff on it, bacon, egg (only half cooked, whites still runny), avocado, and grilled onions but doubt they were cooked with the right oil because I did have a slight reaction after eating half of the burger. Even though I wonât be returning, next time, please just send the chef, not a âmanagerâ who isnât even as with it as the server.
Also, my friend never got his Bloody Mary that he ordered from the manager too. Oh, also they were not that busy either, for those of you thinking it could be because they were slammed on Labor Day,...
Read moreNew to the neighborhood, less than 2 blocks away, and decided to give Summit Grill a try with my elderly parents in tow. First, we parked in the back, but then had to go all the way to the front entrance to ask to be seated (all of us use canes - them because they are very old, me because I need hip surgery, and it seems to me that if you have a back entrance with the primary parking lot, maybe someone should be staffing that back desk? - also, the back entrance requires going down about 6 steps, so it is not very accessible, and if you have a someone who needs a ramp, be sure to drop them off at the front door). Then I stood at the hostess station waiting to be helped for several minutes while the hostess was on a call (biz call, but still - at least make eye contact, mouth "I'm sorry" and act like you notice people are standing around waiting to be seated, maybe wave over another staffer to help with seating -- but she really acted like I was invisible). A manager (?) finally came our way and got us menus and got us seated. Then the longer wait began, with no server showing up. After about 8 minutes, I got up and asked the bartender (the closest employee) to please ask someone to serve us. A few minutes later, I waved down the not-very-with-it hostess who was walking through the dining room and said we hadn't been served. And it STILL took several more minutes for a server to appear! The place was not slammed, and I don't blame the server who ended up with our table, but come on - it was someone's section, where was that someone? Very frustrating lack of communication, and this stuff is restaurant 101. I watched the same thing happen to a woman seated near us -- she was seated, her friend showed up a few minutes later, and a few minutes after that, they left because nobody was serving them. if I hadn't been with parents with serious mobility issues, we also would have left and gone elsewhere The food was pretty good, but I will not being going back after such a disappointing first experience. Luckily Waldo has a lot of other...
