Make sure you tell your nail technician several times what you want because they will give you services you donât ask for and charge you for them! I was in a few weeks ago and told the lady at the front desk that I wanted âshellac on my finger nails and regular polish on my toes.â As I was telling her what I wanted, she was walking away from me in a hurry to get started, which Iâm not sure why because I was the only customer in the salon. A male was sitting down and she told him what I wanted and he began the fill the pedicure tub with water. I picked my polish colors and sat down and he told me to put my feet in the water. I said âI do NOT want a pedicure! I only want my finger nails painted with shellac and my toes painted with regular polish.â So he painted my toes then moved on to my fingers. He did the shellac and the put some oil on my cuticles and rubbed it on to the rest of my hand/forearm, taking a total of 20 seconds or less to spread the oil (I would not consider this a âhand massageâ). Then when I went to pay, he was trying to charge me an extra ten dollars. When I asked what I was being charged for, he said âa shellac manicure and toe polish.â I said âI did not ask for a manicure. I clearly said twice I just wanted polish.â So he said âok Iâll take $5 off.â I shouldnât have been charged extra at all considering I made it clear twice I did not want a manicure or pedicure and they would have known that had they paid attention to my requests. Very disappointed with the level of attentiveness and I donât plan on returning when there are several salons in the area that I can give my...
Read moreI have to say first that the staff was friendly and that the lady did do a good job on my nails. If it weren't for the concern below I'd go back in a heartbeat. I give this place a 1 because of sanitary concerns and they are not Covid related.
I needed new dipping powder. The lady put some acetone in a small cup-like container and asked me to dip my nails in it to remove the old dipping powder. That's standard so it didn't seem odd. When she was done removing all the dipping powder she poured the acetone back into the little bottle she initially poured it from. I said wait..... That's used acetone. I just dipped my nails in used acetone? She said don't worry, the acetone very strong. I said what if you used that acetone for someone else to dip their nails in and they were bleeding. I myself had very tiny cut on one of my fingertips. She said no I use it to clean tools. (That should not be done either. She proceeded to dip the tip of the tool she used into another little container where she poured the used acetone- the one I had dipped my nails.)
This is unfortunate because this place had such good reviews and again the staff was very friendly, but the reused acetone was concerning.
Response to owner: The issue is not placing acetone in a bottle. The issue is that the nail tech poured that used acetone into a small little bowl for me to dip my nails in and I did (not knowing it was used already). That is not following safety guidelines and I really wish you would just acknowledge that it happened and just make sure it doesnât happen again to other...
Read moreI used to go to this place for several years but over the holidays late last year, I had a very bad experience with my pedicure. I actually liked the manicurist that worked with me that day, but I believe she may have cut into my cuticles too close. Plus I noticed that while she was working on my nails, she would leave to answer the phone and come back continuing to work on my feet without having sanitized. I still didn't think much of it because I have been coming to this place many times before and never had a problem. Within that same day I started to develop a rash of small bumps on my toes and I wasn't sure what it could be from but I hadn't gone anywhere else but Mimosa Nails. When I returned to show the manicurist my toes and the rash, she said oh it's probably just your cuticles and she didn't think much of it. After several days I developed an infection and I had to go to the doctor to get antibiotics. I returned once again to show the manager so that I could get a refund or even compensation for having to take off from work to see the doctor, get medication and having to deal with this toe infection for several days and weeks but the person managing that day would not really address the problem so I have not returned there ever since then. I now go to nail salons that have individually wrapped and sterile tools for each customer. I really loved going to this place before and still remember some of the good manicurists like...
